UFC 166 takes place in 16 days at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The main event being the trilogy fight for the UFC heavyweight championship of the world featuring UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez defending against Junior Dos Santos.
The two first fought at the inaugural UFC on Fox show in November of 2011 with Dos Santos winning the title in 64 seconds. The rematch happened last December at UFC 155 with Velasquez winning a lopsided decision.
“UFC Primetime” is a three part series the UFC rolls out to hype big fights. The first episode of the show aired last night.
Part one talks about the past bouts that led to the fighters’ trilogy fight, Velasquez’s place in Mexican fighting history, and Dos Santos’ quest for pride and payback after the second Velasquez fight. The half-hour show also discusses Dos Santos’ medical condition, Daniel Cormier’s role in Velasquez’s training camp and more.
