WWE RAW Reaction and Review – October 14th, 2013

goldust and cody rhodes champions

Anytime a show opening includes Shawn Michaels, you know you’re in for a treat. Still, this should’ve been so much more. Randy Orton deserves the most credit here for delivering the angriest face and most gravely voice he could muster – his intensity was fantastic. Unfortunately, Shawn Michaels no-sold him for most of the promo. On top of that, the logic here made little-to-no sense.

Ryback Is Not a Fan of Negative People Who Run the Internet

ryback interviewIt was another busy weekend for the WWE crew as they went overseas including a pair of shows in Abu Dhabi.  Anywhere that the WWE goes, there are always interviews done, especially when they are out of the country and international media rarely get a chance to speak with any WWE superstars.

This time, it was Ryback doing a short interview while in Abu Dhabi to promote the shows and he was asked several generic questions.  But he decided to use that interview to share his thoughts on some people who must not be big Ryback fans.

When asked about WrestleMania 30 next year and who his dream match would be, Ryback answered,  ”Yeah I think a lot of people put a little too much credit into the Internet.  It’s run by a lot of negative people who should not have an opinion according to me because a lot of them just have no clue how to live life.  But if I could pick just one opponent for WrestleMania 30 it would be The Undertaker because I want to be the guy who ends the streak.  I like getting people pissed off and mad.  And for every person that says I don’t deserve that or I can’t do that, I will prove you wrong time and time again because all of you suck.”

TNA Bound for Glory 2013 Lineup

BoundforGlory2013This Sunday it’s the TNA Bound for Glory PPV from the Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.

Here is the lineup for the show:

-  TNA World Heavyweight Championship:  Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles

-  Sting vs. Magnus

-  Ultimate X Match for the X Division Title:  Austin Aries vs. Manik vs. Chris Sabin vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Samoa Joe

-  TNA Tag Titles:  James Storm and Gunner vs. the winner of the pre-show gauntlet match

-  TNA Knockouts Title:  ODB vs. Gail Kim vs. Brooke Tessmacher

-  Pre-show Gauntlet match:  Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. Joseph Park and Eric Young vs. Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez vs. Robbie E and Jessie.

Yes, even though TNA has gone out of their way to talk about a weight limit for the X Division they have added Samoa Joe to that match.  But that’s TNA right there.

And Kurt Angle has been added to a match which was a bit of a surprise.  The belief was that he was going to be on the show just to be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame, especially coming off of his recent stint in rehab.

Here is the 30-minute Before the Bell video preview for Bound for Glory.  These pieces are always some of the best features that the company does.

Hulk Hogan Says Triple H Told Him, “If Ever I Decide I Get The Itch To Come Back Home,” The Door’s Open.”

Will Hulk Hogan be coming back to the WWE to end his legendary career? According to Hogan, he has already a discussion with a top executive.

In an interview with the AP discussing an appearance for the New York Comic-Con, Hogan stated that he had a recent discussion with Triple H at a charity event.

“He just welcomed me with open arms. He said if ever I decide I get the itch to come back home,” the door’s open, Hogan said.

Hogan’s contract with TNA expired at the beginning of October. With Hogan having a prominent role in WWE 2K14 video game coming out on October 29 and the cover of the Madison Square Garden DVD, rumors have run rampant of a WWE return.

“My mind has been going crazy the last couple of weeks trying to figure out the best thing to do will be (regarding a WWE return),” he said.

Does this mean Hogan will be making his return to the WWE?

The UFC Releases A Statement Regarding Rousimar Palhares’ Release

The UFC made headlines in the wrong way on Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 29 when welterweight Rousimar Palhares refused to break a leg lock he had in his bout with Mike Pierce.

Palhares had won the bout by submission 0:31 into the fight. The UFC didn’t give Palhares the submission of the night bonus due to his actions.

Everyone was wondering what actions the UFC was going to take on the Brazilian. The UFC took immediate action.

UFC President Dana White was doing an interview with Jeremy Schaap on ESPN and the topic of Palhares was brought up. White told Schaap that Palhares was released from the UFC and will never be allowed back due to his actions.

The UFC then released a statement on why Palhares was released from the organization:

As announced by UFC president Dana White, the UFC organization has elected to terminate its contract with Rousimar Palhares based on repeated incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct violating the UFC Fighter Code of Conduct and his Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC.

At ‘UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields’ on Oct. 9, 2013, Palhares won his welterweight bout against Mike Pierce via heel hook submission in 31 seconds. Pierce appeared to tap several times physically and verbally and the ref intervened physically before Palhares let go. Despite being the only submission win on the card, Palhares was denied the Submission of the Night bonus. Managing Director of International Development Marshall Zelaznik announced at the post-fight press conference that the local commission would be investigating the length of time that Palhares held the submission.

The controversy is not Palhares’ first: In 2010, the New Jersey State Athletic Commission suspended Palhares for 90 days following his heel hook win over Tomasz Drwal at UFC 111 for not letting go after the referee stoppage.

In 2012, Palhares was again suspended for nine months after testing positive for elevated testosterone after UFC on FX 6.
