The MMA world knew Jon Jones would defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira, but the question was when it would happen. After it was a reported about two months ago that the fight would take place at UFC 169, The UFC announced it will take place at the next event, UFC 170 on February 22 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The fight will be the main event of the card.
Jones last competed at UFC 165 in September in an epic fight defeating Alexander Gustafsson in a very close decision. A lot of people were clamoring for an immediate rematch between the two, but the UFC decided to go with Teixeira with the plan of if Jones and Gustafsson each win their respective fights they would face each other next.
Teixeira last competed at the beginning of September at UFC Fight Night 32 defeating Ryan Bader by TKO in the first round.
Jones will looking to extend his winning streak to 11 and Teixeira looking to extend his win streak to 21.
