UFC 167 Results: Georges St-Pierre Escapes By Johny Hendricks In The Main Event

Georges St-Pierre said Johny Hendricks would be his toughest test and that more than proved to be the case tonight in the main event of UFC 167.

The main event starts off with St-Pierre throwing an inside leg kick. Hendricks misses a kick with St-Pierre landing a takedown with Hendricks getting up quickly. St-Pierre and Hendricks then tussle into the cage and Hendricks gets the clinch. They clinch in the middle and the referee breaks them.

St-Pierre tries for a takedown, but Hendricks blocks the takedown and starts landing short uppercuts. Hendricks takes down St-Pierre, but the champion gets up. A cut over the right eye of St-Pierre. Hendricks then lands a knee. St-Pierre lands a jab and Hendricks misses an overhand right. St-Pierre lands a kick. Both guys in the clinch and Hendricks lands knees to the legs.

St-Pierre lands a jab and Hendricks an inside leg kick and the champion then lands a kick. Hendricks lands a right hand.

Round 2

The round starts with both guys trading punches and kicks. A jab by the champion. Hendricks lands a series of uppercuts that’s rocking St-Pierre and referee Mario Yamasaki stops the action due to Hendrciks losing his mouthpiece.

Hendricks lands more uppercuts that rocked St-Pierre into the cage and Hendricks clinched against the cage. St-Pierre establishing the jab and a superman punch. They exchange kicks and then a right hook by Hendricks. Hendricks lands a combination and St-Pierre lands a jab. Hendricks lands a jab and then st-Pierre lands a head kick. each guy trades punches. The round ends with both guys in the clinch.

Round 3

The round starts with both guys trading shiots and then jab by the champion. Hendricks lands a right hook and attempts a knee. Hendricks with a right hook. A right hand by St-Pierre.  A left hand/right hand combination by Hendricks. Another jab by St-Pierre. A double jab by Hendricks and then a right hand by St-Pierre. A left uppercut by Hendricks.

A combination lands by St-Pierre and then a left hook a short time later. Each guy trading shots, a jab by Hendricks then a superman punch by St-Pierre. Body shot by Hendricks, who then scores a takedown. The champion gets back up and Hendricks presses St-Pierre into the cage to end the round.

Round 4

St-Pierre starts with a push kick. Hendricks lands a double jab. Another double jab by Hendricks. St-Pierre stumbles and Hendricks gets on top of him and lands an elbow.  Hendricks lands shots to the body and the head and then lets St-Pierre back up. Hendricks lands an uppercut. Hendricks lands a right and then an uppercut. Hendricks lands a straight left and then an uppercut. A double jab and uppercut by Hendricks.

A right hand by the champion, who tried for a takedown, but Hendricks reverses St-Pierre into the cage and trying for a takedown. St-Pierre reverses and tries for a takedown and then Hendricks reverses and lands knees to the inside leg.

Round 5

The final round starts with a left hook and then a head kick. The champion tried to Hendricks down, but Hendricks is throwing short uppercuts. St-Pierre tried for a judo throw, but stuffed by Hendricks. Hendricks trying to takedown St-Pierre and both guys tussle back to the middle.

St-Pierre lands a couple jabs and then scores a takedown. Hendricks trying to get up and gets up. Hendricks reverses and presses St-Pierre against the cage. the champion then reverses and Hendricks reverses back. Both guys back in the middle. St-Pierre with a body kick and left by Hendricks. Crowd chanting GSP. St-Pierre trying for a takedown and gets it, but Hendricks gets right up. Hendricks reverses and has St-Pierre against the cage.

The judges score the fight for Georges St-Pierre (47-48, 48-47×2) to defeat Johny Hendricks by split decision to retain the UFC welterweight title.
