The top two fights for UFC 168 on Saturday night are rematches as Anderson Silva looks to regain the middleweight title against Chris Weidman. In the co-feature, Ronda Rousey defends her UFC women’s bantamweight title against Miesha Tate.
Rousey and Tate squared off the first time under the Strikeforce banner in March of 2012, with Rousey submitting Tate in the first round by armbar to win the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title.
Strikeforce closed shop at the beginning of last year and Rousey was made the UFC women’s bantamweight champion. Rousey defended her title one time so far defeating Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 in February. Tate has fought one time in the UFC as well, losing to Cat Zingano at the TUF 17 Finale in April.
Zingano was supposed to battle Rousey and coach together on this past season’s TUF, but Zingano suffered a knee injury before the taping. Tate was brought to coach and face Rousey. You can watch their entire fight in the video above.
