UFC 168 Results: Chris Weidman Defeats Anderson Silva In Gruesome Fashion

The MMA world was expecting Anderson Silva to rebound quite easily from UFC 162 and regain his UFC Middleweight Championship. Chris Weidman had another plan in mind, but the ending wasn’t what the world expected.

Round 1

The fight starts both guys touching gloves. Both guys start out circling each circle to gauge distance and then Weidman throws a front kick. Weidman scores a takedown but Silva gets right back up. Silva lands a knee. Weidman trying for that takedown. Silva lands another knee, but Weidman knocks Silva down and lands some ground and pound. Silva is able to get Weidman into guard.

Silva landing punches from the bottom and Weidman then lands a series of elbows. Silva gets Weidman in a body triangle, but Weidman gets out and lands more ground and pound. Silva then lands an elbow. Weidman smothers Silva and lands another elbow. Silva with a series of hammerfists. Another elbow by Weidman and a right hand to end the round.

BetweenTheRopes.com scores Round 1 to Weidman, 10-9.

Round 2

Weidman bleeding to start the round. Silva lands an inside leg kick. Both guys circle and Silva lands a left hand. each guys trades jabs. Silva throws an inside leg kick, Weidman checks the kick and Silva goes down in heap with what appears to be a broken leg. Referee Herb Dean then stops the fight.

Chris Weidman defeats Anderson Silva at 1:16 of Round 2 by TKO to retain the UFC Middleweight Championship.
