Johny Hendricks Suffers Torn Bicep, Will Have Surgery On Monday

Johny-Hendricks

Johny Hendricks became the UFC welterweight champion defeating Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 171 on Saturday night. The first title defense for the new champion seems like it will be pushed back for the time being.

It was revealed during an interview on KROQ Radio in Los Angeles today that Hendricks suffered a torn bicep before his fight with Lawler and will have surgery on Monday to repair the tear. Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com first reported the news on Twitter.

By this timeline for Hendricks, he will return no earlier than late summer or early fall.
