UFC 172 just culminated in a new market at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The main e vent featured Jon Jones defeating Glover Teixeira to retain the UFC light heavyweight title. The co-feature had the returning Anthony Johnson defeating the number four ranked light heavyweight Phil Davis.
During the UFC 172 post-fight press conference, president Dana White announced who received UFC 172 bonuses. The “Fight of the Night” went to Takanori Gomi and Issac Valle-Flagg. The “Performance of the Night” went to Joseph Benavidez and Chris Beal.
Gomi and Flagg had a great back and forth fight with Gomi controlling the last two rounds to win the fight by unanimous decision.
Beal kicked off the night in an impressive fashion defeating Patrick Williams by second round stoppage with a flying knee. Benavidez coming a flyweight title loss to Demetrious Johnson in December, dominated Tim Elliot winning by first round submission with a guillotine choke.
Each fighter received $50,000 bonuses for their efforts.
