Ever since Chad Mendes lost to Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 142, he has been a man on a mission and wanting a rematch at the featherweight champion. He will now get his wish.
The Los Angeles Times initially reported and was confirmed by the UFC, that Aldo will defend his UFC featherweight title against Mendes in the main event of UFC 176. That event takes place on Saturday, August 2 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The two battled at the aforementioned UFC 142, with Aldo winning by knockout with one second left in the first round. Since that loss Mendes has won five in row, with four of those wins by stoppage.
Aldo has won 17 fights in a row, last defeating Ricardo Lamas in the co-main event of UFC 169 in February.
