Inside The Rivalry Between Anderson Silva And Chael Sonnen

The rivalry between former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen was perhaps the biggest the sport had ever seen. The two had their first fight at UFC 117 in August of 2010, with Silva pulling out a hail mary fifth round submission in a fight where he lost the four rounds. The rematch went smoother for Silva as he defeated Sonnen by second round TKO at UFC 148 in July of 2012.

In between both of those fights, the trash talk was some of the best the sport had ever seen, courtesy of Sonnen. The Oregon native bashed Silva’s home country of Brazil, disrespecting his family, etc. You name it, Sonnen ripped it.

A web series entitled, “STATIC”, debuted this morning going in depth on the rivalry between Silva and Sonnen. The web series is apart of Jay Z’s Life and Times, a digital hub that will cover art, sports, music, fashion and culture.

Future episodes of “STATIC” will feature Dominick Cruz, Ronda Rousey and others. Next week’s episode will the rivalry between Nick Diaz and Mayhem Miller. You can watch the Silva vs Sonnen video at the top of the page.
