Jon Jones Has Choice Words For His Critics

Dana White stated yesterday to UFC.com that light heavyweight champion Jon Jones doesn’t want to fight Alexander Gustafsson and prefers to face Daniel Cormier. People have been calling Jones a coward for refusing to fight Gustafsson.

Jones responded to the critics today, posting 15 second video on his Instagram account saying he wanted to fight Cormier instead of Gustafsson. The New York native quickly deleted the video, but it was too late as the video surfaced on the Internet.

“Asking for an undefeated Olympic wrestler (and) Strikeforce champion makes me somehow a coward?” Jones stated in the video. “How ’bout the fact that I beat Gustafsson already, whether you guys like how close it was or not? It’s my career, not yours.”

The UFC announced at UFC 173 that Gustafsson had signed a bout agreement to rematch Jones at UFC 177 in August. Jones hasn’t signed the bout agreement at this time and is scheduled to meet with Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta on Thursday to discuss the situation.
