New Main Event for TNA Slammiversary

ericyoungchampionAs expected, there is a new main event for TNA Slammiversary this Sunday with MVP injuring his knee several weeks ago.  He was holding out hope that he could take on Eric Young for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship but that is not the case.

TNA announced that MVP was out of the match on Friday with head of talent relations John Gaburick sharing the word on his Twitter account.

Shortly after that, MVP look to quell any naysayers who were wondering if the injury was true or not on his own Twitter account.

MVP went on to announce the new main event for Slammiversary:

So we now know at least who could be in the main event of the show – Eric Young against the winner of those two matches.  It will be interesting to see what direction they go here.  Samoa Joe and Austin Aries are fan favorites but both are babyfaces and would be facing another one in the champion.  But if you have the heels win, the audience may not like it although it would give Young a chance to once again overcome the odds in trying to defend his title.

My gut – I’d have Joe and Aries win and then tear the house down in the main event between them and Young which would make the crowd happy.
