The current Intercontinental Champion was injured during his match against Dean Ambrose when Jack Swagger got involved and threw Barrett into the barricade.
WWE.com confirmed the injury with Dr. Chris Amann saying, “After Barrett felt an immediate pain and a pop, we brought him back to the training room and the exam showed a separated shoulder. We’re going to do some additional testing this week and then sit down with him and talk about options for treatment for this injury.”
There is no official word yet if Barrett will be able to participate in this Sunday’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view where he was one of the seven participants in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the briefcase and a future WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.
The injury could not have come at a worse time for Barrett either which his “I’m got some bad news!” catchphrase getting over and his fantastic in-ring work as of late. He was considered one of the top choices to possible win the briefcase at Money in the Bank but not that is all up in the air. It does seem that it would be very difficult for him to still be a part of that match, which is very physical, with a separate shoulder.
