UFC 182 Will Be First Event Of 2015

Usually the UFC airs their year end show the last Saturday of the year. We are in for a change, as the company announced that UFC 182 will air on Saturday, January 3 of 2015 with Las Vegas, Nevada the expected destination. The reason for the switch is that Saturday, December 27 is two days after Christmas.

No fight have been announced for the card yet, but it has been expected that Anthony Pettis will defend the UFC lightweight title against Gilbert Melendez after both guys complete their coaching duties on the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Someone else who has expressed in fighting on the card is UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. She told MMAJunkie.com that she wants to fight on the card.

The last time the UFC aired a year at the beginning of the next calendar year was UFC 125 in 2011, with then lightweight champion Frankie Edgar fighting Gray Maynard to a draw.
