WWE Battleground Fantasy Preview

WWE Battleground takes place tonight from the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. Starting with this event, we have partnered with our friends at Kountermove for the $50 Between the Ropes WWE Battleground freeroll fantasy game. Thank you to all of our fans who have participated as our game is full.

If you are looking to another fantasy game or looking to change to your picks in our game, here is a fantasy preview for tonight’s WWE Battleground.

The main event of the show features John Cena defending the WWE world heavyweight championship against Kane, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. The buildup for the bout has been built around dissension between Cena and Reigns, with Reigns looking strong on every show. You really didn’t know Orton and Kane were in the match really until this past Monday’s WWE Raw.

I don’t see Kane and Orton having a chance, leaving it down to Cena and Reigns. I wouldn’t have Reigns in the match, but that’s for a different time. The main event for Summerslam has already been leaked with a DVD cover showing Cena defending against Brock Lesnar.

The match will be nothing too special. See Orton costing Reigns when it looks like the former Shield member would win the title. Cena wins the match to retain the title and head to Summerslam to face Lesnar.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose should be the show stealer. Rollins turned on Ambrose and Reigns the day after Payback last month, with Rollins and Ambrose feuding ever since. Rollins won the Money in the Bank briefcase at the MITB last month when Kane cost Ambrose the match. This feud has been well done so far, with both guys being real strong on the microphone.

There are a couple different ways WWE can go with this match. You can do a non-finish or either guy can win the match. I see the feud happening for a few more months. Both guys need to remain strong here, so I’m going to go with Rollins with interference from The Authority.

Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho is an intriguing match. Jericho made a surprise return a few weeks back on Raw and Wyatt came out and laid him out. The segments between the two have been good leading to Battleground. It is surprising WWE is going with this match on this considering Summerslam is next month and the first matchup between these two should have been saved for that show.

The match should be pretty good and I would go with Jericho to win the match to give him some momentum heading into the biggest show of the summer. But this is WWE, so I think Wyatt wins with interference from the family.

Rusev and Jack Swagger have had the second best fan reaction behind the main event. I don’t think WWE’s intention was to get Swagger over, but that has happened here. Zeb Coulter and Lana have been really strong on the mic to help enhance the feud since Rusev and Swagger aren’t strong with the microphone.

If given some time, the match can be a show stealer. This is a big test for Rusev as Swagger is the best guy he has faced so far. Rusev wins the match.

I have been very baffled by the AJ Lee and Paige feud over the Divas championship. Lee came back the day after MITB and won the title from Paige. The two have been hamming it up and being nice with each other. With the way they have been acting, you wouldn’t even know they are facing each other at Battleground.

This will be the first full match between the two. Lee is the best all-around female performer in WWE and Paige has the potential to be in that spot in the future. This match should be good and see Lee retaining the title with another match at Summerslam.

The other members of The Wyatt Family, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will battle The Usos for the tag team titles. Usos retained the titles at MITB last month and then on Raw two weeks ago, Rowan and Harper won a non-title match. Every match these teams have are always really good. Will be interesting to see how they come up with new material. I see The Usos retaining and the feud continuing for the near future.

The reason for the 20 man Battle Royal for the Intercontinental championship was due to a shoulder injury Wade Barrett suffered on Smackdown last month. Some of the notables in the match are Sheamus, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and Bo Dallas.

With the way it has been going, one would think Cesaro with him losing every week lately. Could see Dallas to continue his push. The match is basically a tossup. I’m going with Dallas to continue his undefeated streak.

Cameron and Naomi are feuding due to Total Divas. Ummm, ok. No cares about the match happening. I guess I will go with Naomi because I have to pick somebody.
