Anthony Johnson was a 5 to 1 favorite heading into his co-main event fight against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Johnson showed very quickly why the oddsmakers were right in setting those high odds as he defeated Nogueira by TKO at 0:44 of the first round.
The fight starts with both guys missing shots to the head. Johnson lands a left hook that staggers Nogueira and Johnson realizes that. Nogueira puts his back against the cage and Johnson goes to work. Johnson throws a right hand, a right uppercut and another uppercut that rocks Nogueira’s head back.
Johnson lands a right hook that crumbles Nogueira to the mat. Johnson lands another uppercut, a left hook that drops Nogueira again and another right uppercut and referee Herb Dean steps in and halts the fight. After the fight, you can blood pouring out of Nogueira’s head.
Johnson tells commentator Joe Rogan that he has been down a very crazy road to get here tonight. “Rumble” knew he had to finish Nogueira because of the reputation of the Brazilian family. Johnson thanks UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta for giving him a second chance in the UFC.
