Rory MacDonald vs Tarec Saffiedine Set To Headline UFC Fight Night Show In Nova Scotia


The UFC announced early Thursday on Twitter that top ranked welterweights Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine will headline UFC Fight Night 54 on October 4 at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

That will be the second show of the day as UFC Fight Night 53 takes place in Sweden.

MacDonald who is the number three ranked welterweight in the UFC rankings last competed at UFC 174 in June defeating Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision. The Canadian will be looking to extend his winning streak to three and inch closer to a welterweight title shot.

Saffiedine, who was the last Strikeforce welterweight champion last fought in the octagon at UFC Fight Night 34 defeating Hyun Gyu Lim by unanimous decision in the main event of the show. Saffiedine will be looking to extend his winning streak to six.

The UFC didn’t announce whether the winner of the fight will receive a title shot. The card is expected to air on Fox Sports 1 with the preliminary portion of the card to air on UFC Fight Pass.
