Alexander Gustafsson Feels Due To Jon Jones Injury, He Should Fight Jones At UFC 182

Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has suffered a torn meniscus and a sprained ankle and is out of his scheduled title defense against Daniel Cormier next month at UFC 178. Cormier was told by UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta that he would still get the shot at Jones for the rescheduled fight at UFC 182 on January 3rd. Someone has a major problem with, former light heavyweight title challenger and the man who was originally supposed to face Jones at the aforementioned UFC 178, Alexander Gustafsson.

“The Mauler” took to his Facebook page to voice his displeasure at that news.

I just heard the news that Jones is injured and the fight is rescheduled to January 3???? Until then, I will be more than ready, it was MY fight to begin with and I WANT the fight as the number 1 contender. End of story!!

Gustafsson had to bow out of the Jones fight last month due to a torn meniscus in his knee. The Swede was supposed to have the rematch with Jones after coming off their epic war at UFC 165 in September of 2013, in which Jones won by controversial decision.
