In the main event of tonight’s WWE Summerslam, Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena to win the WWE world heavyweight championship.
Lesnar controlled about 95% percent of the match as both guys went right at each other to begin the match. Just 30 seconds into the match, Lesnar hit an F5, but Cena was able to kick out. Cena had very few moments in the match as about halfway through he was to land some punches and a clothesline. Cena went charging at Lesnar, who then got Cena up for another F5, but Cena countered into an Attitude Adjustment with Lesnar kicking out at two.
After that Lesnar went on a tear of German suplexes. On a couple occasions, Lesnar hit four and four consecutive German’s on Cena. There were times during those sequences that Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman asked referee Charles Robinson to stop match. Robinson would ask Cena, who refused each time. WWE stated that Lesnar hit a total of 16 German suplexes.
The finishing sequence occurred when Cena had the STFU locked in on Lesnar. “The Beast Incarnate” was able to reverse it and land vicious ground and pound on Cena. Lesnar then delivered another F5, pinned Cena for the one, two, three and win his first WWE world heavyweight champion in over 10 years.
After the match, Lesnar walked up to the ramp with Heyman and staring Cena. The former champion was lying on the canvas with three WWE doctors around him to see if he was ok.
