Gina Carano “Kinda Considering” Fighting In The UFC, Meeting With Dana White Next Week

Gina Carano hasn’t fought inside the cage since her August 2009 loss to Cris Cyborg under the Strikeforce banner. Carano has gone on to shooting including movies including “In The Blood”, which comes out today in theatres. Rumors have been circulating that Carano and her team have been talking to the UFC about a possible return, which would be a fight against women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Carano was on “The Arsenio Hall” Show last night to promote the movie and was asked by Hall if she misses fighting.

“There’s not a workout that I go through that I’m not fighting somebody in my mind,” she said, “and it’s never gone away.”

Hall then asked “Conviction” if she would fight again.

“Yea, I’m actually kinda considering it.”

Carano then confirmed that she will be meeting with UFC President Dana White next week. “I love it (fighting), it’s something I can do that makes everything else disappear. I dream about it. I just didn’t know if I was ever going to get placed with the opportunity to make a comeback. So I’m either going to do it now or retire and say, I’m never going to do it. So now is the moment.”

Do you want to see Carano return and face Rousey?

Jon Jones: “I’ve Never Taken Any Performance Enhancing Drug”

Jon Jones returns to the octagon to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship when he battles Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 172. Jones was last seen in the cage in September at UFC 165 when defeated Alexander Gustafsson in an instant classic.

The champion appeared last night on “UFC Tonight” and at the beginning of interview stated that he was randomly drug tested by the Maryland State Athletic Commission.

“The Maryland Commission sent a lab to drug test me and I’m glad they did,” Jones stated on the show. “It was urine and blood. They had a test for HGH, I think it was HGH, then they had a urine test that detects all other type of stuff.”

Jones says him and his management team wanted the test not because he thinks Teixeira is dirty, but wants to see the sport be clean.

“It’s great to know the athletes who are competing are competing clean. I’ve never taken any performance enhancing drug. I’ve probably fought people in the past who have. I want to see our sport be a clean sport. I have no right to accuse (Glover) of anything. The only edge you should have is your work ethic.”

UFC 172 takes place on Saturday, April 26th from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao vs TJ Dillashaw To Main Event UFC 173

barao

It was announced earlier in the week that UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman’s main event fight against Lyoto Machida at UFC 173 was getting moved to UFC 175 in July. The movement was due to the fact that Weidman was having minor surgery on both of his knees. We now have a new main event for UFC 173.

It was first reported by MMAJunkie.com that Renan Barao will defend his UFC bantamweight championship against TJ Dillashaw. Barao was last seen in the cage last month at UFC 169 when he stopped Urijah Faber and will look to extend his unbeaten streak to 33.

Dillashaw was last seen in the octagon in January defeating Mike Easton by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 35 in January in a fight he thoroughly dominated.

MMAJunkie also reported that the UFC had originally asked Raphael Assuncao to fight Barao, but Assuncao has some lingering injuries that won’t allow him to take the fight.

UFC 173 takes place on Saturday, May 24 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Georges St-Pierre Suffers Another Torn ACL, Return Uncertain

st-pierre

Georges St-Pierre announced in December that he was taking a break from MMA and was uncertain if he would ever return. Well it looks like if the former UFC welterweight champion returns, it won’t be until 2015 at the earliest. St-Pierre announced a short time ago on his Facebook and Twitter pages that he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.

“Just got confirmation that I tore my left knee ACL during training this week… Surgery in a few days and rehab starts right away. We all face challenges in our lives and I know only one way to take this one: Pain, hard work, no shortcuts and I will soon be back at 100%. Stay tuned and thanks for your amazing support, as always”.

St-Pierre had torn his ACL in 2011 and didn’t return until November of 2012 when he fought three times in a one year span defeating Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz and current UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.

Anderson Silva Says “This Year Is Over For Me”, Promises Return In 2015

asilva

The last time we seen Anderson Silva in the octagon was when he threw a leg kick, which was checked by Chris Weidman and snapped Silva’s leg like a pretzel at UFC 168 in December. Silva has begun walking on his own and even started to do some light training. UFC President Dana White has been stating that Silva would return by the end of this year. The former middleweight kingpin put the kibosh on that.

In an interview with Combate.com in Brazil, Silva stated that he will not be returning this year, but promised he will return in 2015.

“These rumors that I’ll fight at UFC 181 or any other event around that date aren’t true,” Silva told Combate. “This year is over for me. There’s a chance I’ll fight in the first half of 2015.”

“The Spider”, who signed a ten fight contract last year says he isn’t sure if he will complete the contract.

“I don’t see myself stopping (right now), but I don’t know if I will fulfill my 10-fight contract,” he said. “My family has been asking me for years to stop fighting, and they need to understand that this is what I love to do and that I need to have my time. My goal in the sport was to become a reference in this sport, and I’m achieving this.”

WWE Monday Night Raw Down 300,000 Viewers From Last Week

wwe logo

We are three weeks away from WrestleMania 30 and it seems like the WWE is heading on a downtrend toward the biggest event of the year. Last night’s WWE Monday Night Raw scored a 2.98 rating with an average of 4.07 million viewers. The first hour averaged 4.00 million viewers, hour two averaged 4.17 million viewers and the final hour of the show averaged 4.05 million viewers. That is down from last week’s show, which scored a 3.09 rating with average of 4.37 million viewers. That is down 300,000 viewers from last week.

The first hour of the show featured the opening segment with Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista. The second hour featured the John Cena/Bray Wyatt promo and then the match between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. The final hour of the show had The Shield/Kane segment and the show closed with HHH/Bryan promo.

Is the WWE in trouble heading into Wrestlemania or is it a blip on the radar due to the St. Patrick’s Day holiday?

Plenty of Challengers in Stacked UFC Welterweight Division

hendricksIt was an instant classic with Johny Hendricks digging deep in the fifth and final round to defeat Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 and become the UFC welterweight championship.   But there is no time to rest for the new champ with plenty of contenders in the stacked welterweight division.

The dream scenario for would be a rematch against Georges St-Pierre who escaped with a narrow – and controversial – win against Hendricks at UFC 167 before announcing that he was vacating the belt and taking time off.

GSP has not given any signs on when he might return after stepping away to deal with what he called some personal issues.  But UFC President Dana White said last week that he knows “for a fact” that St-Pierre will return to the octagon at some point.
