Gambling on Wrestling

gamingclubThe Major League Wrestling promotion featured a wide variety of different wrestling matches, from bouts between individual wrestling stars to team wrestling bouts such as the one between Funkin’ Army led by Terry Funk and the Extreme Horsemen team captained by Steve Corino. The original Major League Wrestling promotion may be no more, although fans can still view classic matches via the MLW Underground and MLW Classic television channels, but wrestling betting is very much alive and many of the stars of the sport got their start via Major League Wrestling.

At the moment not all of the major online bookies actually offer wrestling betting odds, although more are beginning to recognize that there is a customer base for gambling on the professional wrestling leagues. The oddness of wrestling betting is that matches are accepted to have pre-determined results, although neither fans nor bookmakers can be sure what these outcomes actually are ahead of the bouts. This aspect of wrestling bets nonetheless makes it unique compared with any other type of sports betting, and even different from playing popular casino games like poker, blackjack or the slot machines at online casino sites.

There are actually wrestling themed games on offer at these sites nowadays, as the casinos seek to reach as wide a range of people as possible, and the likes of the Andre the Giant video slot from sites like www.gamingclub.com/au/casino-games should have real appeal for pro-wrestling lovers. Games like this one have the best features of a standard slot machine, like being really cheap to game on and offering a great money jackpot. However they combine this with the sort of cutting edge video and audio that allows you to feel like you are part of the action. This is the vital extra element in casino games like these that other types of betting are not quite able to match.

Mick Foley Says That Monday’s Raw Was “Just Right”

foley

Mick Foley has been critical of the WWE product when it has come to Daniel Bryan. The WWE Hall of Famer went on a rant after the Royal Rumble when Bryan wasn’t in the 30 man Rumble match. Foley has taken to his Facebook to praise the show closing angle on this past Monday’s Raw featuring Bryan, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

FOR ME, RAW WAS JUST RIGHT

Following the brutal beatdown of Daniel Bryan by Triple H on Monday’s #RAW, I received many questions on social media, asking if I thought WWE had gone too far, with many pointing out the beating’s resmeblance to the one I took at the hands of The Rock in the 1999 Royal Rumble. No, I don’t think they went too far. I think they went just far enough.

A few weeks ago, when Daniel Bryan challenged Triple H, and tried to engage the crowd in a “Yes” chant, it seemed half-hearted at best, to the point where I said out loud, in the Foley living room, “he’s trying to sell a match that no one wants to see.” Well, following Monday night, that match has gone from being simply the obstacle Daniel Bryan had to hurdle to get to the main event into a match I now I feel like I need to see.

Yes, it was brutal, yes it was tough to watch at certain points – but it served notice to all of those who had forgotten, that Triple H was one of the best bad guys of his generation – and Stephanie, with her recent work on the microphone, has become an abslolutely compelling authority figure – as effective as I’ve ever seen her; seemingly channelling her inner Vince. I’ve known Stephanie a long time, and somewhere in the McMahon/Helmsley home, she still has the pot-holder my daughter made for her many, many years, ago. No matter what happens in business, she is someone I will always consider a friend. But man, do I want to see her get what she has coming to her? Maybe a WWE Diva who might happen to have a close connection to Daniel Bryan to smack the taste out of her mouth. Any candidates?

Imagine me as Goldilocks, surveying the lay of the WWE land, looking at angles from the past – far past, and recent past, trying to figure out which one is the perfect fit when it comes to selling a match – really, truly turning a match into something that the WWE Universe feels they need to see. That Rumble I did with Dwayne The Rock Johnson with the 11 unprotected chairshots? Too much. Most of what we see in the PG era? No matter how good the wrestling (and much of it is really, really good) – it’s just a little too soft. But what I saw on Monday night? As brutal as it may have been, as tough as it may have been to watch, I thought it was just right.

WWE Smackdown Spoilers For Friday March 21, 2014

smackdown

The WWE held their Smackdown tapings last night in Houston, Texas. The show will air on Friday night on the SyFy channel starting at 8 p.m. ET. Here is what happened at the tapings.

Kane started off the show and did a promo about how Daniel Bryan is garbage and how the Authority is better than everyone, then the boos and you sold out chants started. He then read a letter from Triple H that explained how he and Stephanie regret what happened on Raw, but Bryan pushed them to that point.

-Fernando (w/Diego) defeated Fandango (w/Summer Rae). The crowd didn’t seem to care. Fernando won with a roll up. It’s a shame these guys are in the spot they’re in because they have so much talent.

-Dolph Ziggler defeated Damien Sandow. Ziggler got a nice pop. Yeah, we have seen this match more times than we’ve seen Cena win the title, but I’ll never get tired of seeing these two wrestle. Sandow got more offense, but Ziggler beat him with the Fameasser.

The Wyatt Family had an on screen promo about John Cena being scared. Not sure if that will make it on TV but the crowd paid close attention to it.

-Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (w/Roman Reigns) vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel vs. The Real Americans (w/Zeb Colter) vs. Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre (w/Heath Slater) in a No. 1 contenders match for a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship ended in a DQ. The match was pretty good until there was a DQ when Kane came out and started to attack Reigns, but I’m not too sure if that caused the DQ. Reigns and Kane fought up the ramp when the New Age Outlaws came out to a nice pop, then they started to attack Reigns. While that was happening, Cesaro and Ryback performed their finishers on the other Shield members. Reigns finally got back into the ring and Kane gave him a chokeslam them he left the ring with the Outlaws. I guess we’ll see The Shield vs. Kane and The New Age Outlaws.
They set up Miz TV and his guest was Big Show. They bickered at each other and then Miz brought out Titus O’Niel, Kofi, ADR, Cody, Big E, Henry, Goldust then Sheamus. Sheamus said something on the mic and Miz said they should beat up on Show which resulted in a brawl between all men. The last two men in the ring were Sheamus and Show. Miz tried to help get Show out of the ring but Show threw both men out.

-Alberto Del Rio beat Big E in a non-title match.

-The Bella Twins defeated Natalya and Summer Rae.

There was a backstage promo with all the heels involved in the tag team match. Kane gave The Real Americans and Ryback & Axel tag title matches (at WrestleMania?) and put all members of 3MB in the battle royal. There was a brief Alexander Rusev promo with Lana.

-John Cena beat Luke Harper (w/Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan). Cena and Harper had a short match with a few good spots. The crowd was really into it with the back and forth chants for Cena. Cena ended up winning with the AA then ran out of the ring while the other Wyatts ran in. Afterward, Cena cut a promo, saying that there was another wrestler that had a similar entrance to the Wyatt Family, then said they could rest in peace. Undertaker came out. Taker and Cena cleaned house, causing Bray leave the ring. Cena and Taker hit their finishers on Rowan and Harper to finish the show.

WWE States That Daniel Bryan Has A Shoulder Injury Due To Savage Attack By Triple H

It was made official last week that Daniel Bryan will battle Triple H at WrestleMania 30 on Sunday, April 6. Bryan then got the caveat of if he beats “The Game” that night he will be inserted into the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match featuring champion Randy Orton and the Royal Rumble winner Batista.

Then on last night’s Monday Night Raw, HHH stated that if he beats Bryan then he will move into the title bout. Last night’s Raw closed with HHH addressing Bryan. Triple H told Bryan that he respected him and then Stephanie McMahon came out and ordered police to arrest Bryan for “Occupying Raw” last week.

The police handcuffed Bryan and then HHH savagely attacked Bryan and then gave Bryan a pedigree to end the show. Bryan was taken off on a stretcher and placed in an ambulance.

WWE.com released the following statement regarding the latest on the former WWE champion.

“WWE.com can confirm that Daniel Bryan suffered a shoulder injury as a result of being handcuffed and attacked by WWE COO Triple H in the final moments of last night’s Raw.

WWE medical sources confirm that, as a result of the COO’s attack, Bryan’s previous shoulder injury stemming from several matches with several Superstars was severely exasperated, including a dislocation and potential ligament tears. The level of damage cannot be determined until the swelling reduces, though Bryan has since left the hospital and will receive an MRI once that swelling has gone down.”

We will have an update when more information becomes available.

Talking Dead Featuring CM Punk Delivers Huge Rating

We haven’t seen CM Punk on WWE television since the Royal Rumble at the end of January. The former WWE champion left the company the Raw after the Rumble prior to an edition of Monday Night Raw. Punk made his first scheduled TV appearance since he left the company when he appeared on “Talking Dead” on Sunday night.

Punk’s appearance on the show drew 5.415 million viewers. That was up from last week’s show, which averaged 4.62 million viewers. Sunday’s rating was the third biggest rating off all time for the show, which airs on AMC.

In the video above, you can watch extra footage that AMC posted online.

What To Expect On Tonight’s WWE Monday Night Raw

RAW logo black

WWE Monday Night Raw takes place from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Last Monday’s Raw ended with Daniel Bryan pinning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton.

We are 20 days away from Wrestlemania 30 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. What can we expect on tonight’s edition of Raw as we inch closer to the biggest event of the year?

On last week’s show, Bryan “Occupied Raw” and got his long awaited match with HHH at Wrestlemania, with the caveat of if he defeats “The Game”, he will go onto to the main event of the Wrestlemania 30 to face Orton and Batista. HHH stated that he will address Bryan on the show tonight. Expect some sort of confrontation with the two and possibly an appearance by Shawn Michaels. “The Heartbreak Kid” resides in San Antonio, so maybe we see him confront either guy.

The Undertaker will also be in the house tonight. Paul Heyman has stated that he is in Texas, so expect either separate promos or another confrontation like we saw last week. Brock Lesnar isn’t scheduled for tonight’s show as he will be on the show the last two weeks prior to Wrestlemania.

Orton and Batista will also be in the house as well. Would expect them to get involved with each other as Batista speared the champion during the main event tag team match. Or could they unite to try and take out Bryan? Could see both scenarios playing out to create more intrigue for the main event of Wrestlemania as both guys need to generate more of a reaction for themselves heading into the big show in about three weeks.

Sting States That He Wants His Last Match To Be Against The Undertaker

Sting was last seen in the ring in January for TNA. It has been widely assumed that Sting will not be returning to TNA. Speculation has also been that Sting will make that long awaited debut in the WWE in the not too distant future.

The TNA Hall of Famer took in a Q&A session in London and naturally he was asked by a fan if he will face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 next year.

“I don’t know. I really don’t know. I can say that I would love for that to happen. I can tell you that, really, there’s only one more match that I would like to have,” Sting said. “Yes, Undertaker.”

WWE NXT Spoilers For Shows Through The End Of April

nxt

The WWE taped episodes of NXT last night at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. The company taped four episodes that will run through the month of April. You can watch episodes of NXT on the WWE Network. Here is what happened at the tapings.

Dark Match

-Kalisto (f/k/a Samuray Del Sol) defeated El Local. This was probably dark, but replays were shown post-match so it wasn’t 100 percent clear.

Episode One (April 3):

-Emma over Sasha Banks.

-The Ascension beat two local wrestlers. One of the jobbers was FIP talent Johnny Vandal.

-Brodus Clay pinned Xavier Woods. Brodus cut a promo saying WWE took everything from him, so now it’s his time to do the taking. He said he’ll start by taking the NXT Championship.

-Tyler Breeze defeated Yoshi Tatsu.

-Corey Graves beat Sami Zayn.

Episode Two (April 10):

-Adam Rose over Danny Burch.

-Bayley defeated Sasha Banks.

-Mojo Rawley pinned Sylvester Lefort. Post-match, Brodus came out and attacked Lefort. He called out Neville, but backed down when Neville came down to the ring.

The segment likely ended here, because Neville addressed the fans and said that Bo was going to attempt to occupy NXT. He told the crowd to turn their backs to the ring when Bo tries.

Bo came out and attempted to occupy NXT but the crowd turned their backs and had none of it. Bo flipped out and threw the mic; basically had a complete meltdown. NXT General Manager JBL came out and told Bo that he doesn’t have another shot at the NXT Title, but he does have a match with Justin Gabriel.

-Bo Dallas defeated Justin Gabriel. This match was super boring. It apparently felt like it dragged on for ten hours.

Episode Three (April 17):

-Aiden English pinned Colin Cassady. English used a handful of tights.

-Camacho beat Oliver Grey.

-The Ascension defeated two jobbers.

-The Great Khali over CJ Parker. Parker was crapping on the crowd, so the crowd was happy when Khali came out and killed Parker.

-Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger beat Sawyer Fulton and Baron Corbin.

-Adrian Neville beat Brodus Clay by countout It appears as though this program will carry on into the next set of tapings.

Episode Four (April 24):

-Charlotte and Sasha Banks over Paige and Emma. Charlotte pinned Paige.

-Alexander Rusev defeated Travis Tyler.

-Tyson Kidd beat Mason Ryan. Kidd put NXT over after the match.

-Tyler Breeze pinned Angelo Dawkins.

-The Usos and Sami Zayn defeated The Ascension and Corey Graves.
