Lineup for WWE Hall of Fame Class 2014

Coming up on Saturday night, the WWE will induct seven more members into its Hall of Fame. It’s an interesting lineup to say the least with plenty of characters and even controversial choices. The entire ceremony will air live on the WWE Network beginning at 9pm Eastern.

* The Ultimate Warrior

An iconic character from the 80′s known best by fans for his wild entrances running to the ring and his even wilder, nonsensical promos that he would scream out. Warrior’s big moment was defeated Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI which many people thought would be the passing of the guard but it was not and Hogan would return to take the top spot in the company. He had plenty of detractors from his peers for his style, especially since was not a very good wrestler and his erratic personality. That’s likely why Linda McMahon will be introducing him and not a fellow wrestler.

Top Five Matches In The Career Of Brock Lesnar

brocklesnarcody

Brock Lesnar heads into fourth Wrestlemania this Sunday as he tries to break The Undetaker’s 21-0 streak at Wrestlemania. Lesnar debuted in the company in 2002 with Paul Heyman and became at that time the youngest WWE Champion defeating The Rock at the 2002 Summerslam. “The Beast Incarnate” left the company in 2004 and didn’t return until the day after Wrestlemania 28 in 2012. In between that, Lesnar almost made the NFL and then became the UFC Heavyweight Champion in 2008.

Lesnar has had a tremendous impact in the WWE in his two separate tenures. Let’s now take a look back at some of the best matches in the career of Brock Lesnar.

5) Brock Lesnar vs Rob Van Dam in the finals of the 2002 King of the Ring: Lesnar had made his WWE debut three months previous on the day after Wrestlemania 18. Lesnar was steamrolling through everyone into the 2002 edition of King of the Ring. Beating Test in the semifinals, Lesnar advance to the finals against Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam. This was Lesnar’s toughest test to date. Lesnar defeated Van Dam in a good ten minute match as this was the first sign of big things to come.

4) Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker at No Mercy 2002 for the WWE Championship: These two square this Sunday at Wrestlemania 30, but have battled each other before. They first started feuding in September of 2002 at the Unforgiven pay-per-view with the match ending in a double disqualification. The two battled again the next month at the No Mercy event inside Hell in a Cell, which was and still is The Undertaker’s speciality match. In my mind this was the best match in 2002 with Lesnar winning in a 30 plus minute bloodbath.

3) Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk at Summerslam 2013: When Lesnar came back in 2012, a lot of people wondered if Lesnar could still go in the ring considering he hadn’t been in the ring in over eight years. Lesnar had very good matches since his return up to this match against Punk at Summerslam 2013. The build was fairly simple as Punk left Paul Heyman, with the devious manager bringing in his hired gun to take Punk out. These guys put on a near 30 minute classic with Punk winning the match as I thought this was the 2013 match of the year and the best match since Lesnar returned to the WWE.

2) Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle 60 Minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Championship: These had classic matches all throughout 2003 starting at Wrestlemania 19 with Lesnar winning the title. Angle regained the title in July of that year pinning and then beating him again the following month at Summerslam. The blowoff to the feud took place on the September 16th edition of Smackdown in a 60 minute Iron Man Match. This was an unbelievable match that ended up with Lesnar winning five falls to four and regaining the WWE Championship. This was deemed the best match of 2003 by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

1) Brock Lesnar vs The Rock at Summerslam 2002 for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Lesnar had been on a roll since he debuted in early 2002 like we had stated earlier. With the victory over Van Dam at the King of the Ring, Lesnar earned a crack at the WWE Undisputed Championship. The Rock had come back from filing the “Scorpion King” in June of ’02 and won the title the following month at the Vengeance event pinning Kurt Angle in a triple threat match that also featured The Undertaker. These guys went 17 minutes with a very rabid Long Island, New York that cheered when Lesnar hit the F5 to pin Rock and become the Undisputed Champion.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Confirms He Will Be At WWE Wrestlemania 30

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin retired after his WrestleMania 19 match with The Rock. Austin retired due to the severe neck issue he was having due to the broken neck suffered in his match with Owen Hart at Summerslam in 1997. Throughout the years, Austin has always a shot down a return to the ring and at this point in his life seems highly unlikely.

Austin said during his podcast, “The Steve Austin Show”, earlier this week that he would be in New Orleans to attend the WWE Hall of Fame, but hadn’t stated whether he would be at WrestleMania 30 this Sunday.

TMZ earlier today caught up with Austin, who confirmed to them he will be at the big show. When asked what he his role would be at Wrestlemania, Austin was non-committal.

“That’s breaking news, I cannot tell you right here at the airport!,” Austin said.

Hulk Hogan States That It Is “Just So Humbling And Exciting” To Be Back In WWE And Hosting Wrestlemania

Hulk-hogan

Hulk Hogan is quite arguably the biggest draw in the history of pro wrestling. Hogan returned to the WWE after a six year hiatus and announced he will be the host of Wrestlemania 30. The event takes place this Sunday from the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The WWE Hall of Famer talked to Redeye Chicago and discussed what it was like to get the call from the WWE to return and be apart of Wrestlemania 30.

“Well, I started this thing. Before I worked for Vince McMahon Jr. I worked for his dad. So it’s kind of the house that Hogan and McMahon built. It was a small regional company at the time but when Vince Jr. took over, he wanted me to be the lead dog because I had the most momentum going at the time than any other wrestler.

So starting this wonderful experience and now fast-forwarding 30 years later and with the timing being so good and lucky is just so humbling and exciting. To be the host and announcing matches for the show leaves me speechless at times.

When I tell others that I will be immortal, it’s true. With the WWE Network I will always be introduced to younger generations and the Hulkster will be running wild forever.”

Hogan also gives his predictions on who wins at Wrestlemania, whether he would do a reality show on the WWE Network and much more.

Top Five Matches In The Career Of Randy Orton

randy orton, champion

Randy Orton heads into this Sunday’s WWE Wrestlemania 30 as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Orton will be in the main event of the show facing Batista and the winner of the Daniel Bryan vs HHH match.

Orton signed a deal with WWE in 2001 and started in Ohio Valley Wrestling and was brought up to the main roster in 2002. Orton is a 12 time WWE/World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion and Tag Team Champion.

We are going to look back at the top matches in the career of the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

5) Randy Orton vs Rob Van Dam at 2003 Armageddon for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Orton had started to find his place in the company when this match took place in December 2003. By this time, Orton was apart of Evolution with HHH, Batista and Ric Flair. They were the most over heels at that current time. Van Dam was the Intercontinental Champion heading into this title defense. In what was a very good match, Orton defeated Van Dam to the title and win the first singles belt of his career.

4) Randy Orton vs Mick Foley at 2004 Backlash: This feud had started to escalate at the end of 2003 and rolled right into 2004. The two squared off in a handicap match at Wrestlemania 20 when Orton, Batista and Flair defeated Foley and The Rock. The WWE paired the two in a one on one match at the Backlash pay-per-view the following month in a no holds barred match. This was Foley’s first singles match in over four years and the two put on one heck of a match. Orton won the match and really put him on the map as a guy who can adapt to different types of wrestling styles.

3) Randy Orton vs Chris Benoit at Summerslam 2004 for the World Heavyweight Championship: I know bringing up Benoit’s name is pretty much taboo since he murdered his wife and son in 2007. This match was Orton’s first crack at a heavyweight title and got into the match by winning a battle royal a few weeks beforehand. Benoit had been on a run during this time as he won the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania 20. It was a hotly contested 20 minute match with Orton walking out the winner and his first ever Heavyweight Championship.

2) Randy Orton vs The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 21: This was a really good buildup as Orton had been the “Legend Killer” gimmick laying out legends like Mick Foley, Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Ric Flair. Heading into Wrestlemania 21, Taker was 12-0 at Mania heading into this match. This match went about 15 minutes with Taker winning the match, which was his best Mania match since his match with Triple H at Wrestlemania 17 in 2001 and has been Orton’s best match ever at Wrestlemania.

1) Randy Orton vs Triple H at No Mercy 2007 for the WWE Championship: Heading into this event, the title was vacant as it was supposed to be John Cena vs Orton, but Cena had torn his pectoral muscle six days before on an edition of Monday Night Raw. At the beginning of the show, Vince McMahon had made Orton the champion, but HHH protested and McMahon a match them two and HHH won the title. “The Game” then defeated Umaga halfway through the show and then faced Orton in the main event of the show in a last man standing match. Orton walked out of the match winning in my mind his first ever WWE championship.

Let us know your thoughts on if you would get rid of or add any matches.
