Thanks to FiveOuncesOfPain.com for finding this interview with Rampage Jackson from the Jimmy Kimmel Show. It’s good to see Quinton getting out there and being his normal hilarious self. The comedic chemistry between Rampage and Kimmel makes Rampage seem like a younger and much more dangerous Ed McMahon.

MMARated.com is reporting that at a press conference tomorrow Affliction’s MMA promotion will be announcing the signing of Andrei Arlovski. If most of the recent speculation is correct he will be fighting Ben Rothwell on July 19th’s Affliction: Banned card.
Even though some of Arlovski’s latter fights in the UFC were lacking in excitement this is still a blow to the UFC’s heavyweight division. With Arlovski now gone, Randy Couture leaving or retiring, and Tim Sylvia also fighting for Affliction the UFC has seen 3 of the last 4 heavyweight champions leave the company within the last year.
On the other side of the coin it looks like Affliction has been able to put together arguably the best heavyweight division in MMA. With Fedor, Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Pedro Rizzo, and Ben Rothwell all signed Affliction won’t have a shortage of interesting heavyweight matchups for quite some time.
Also of note at tomorrow’s press conference will be the announcement that Donald Trump has become an equity partner in the Affliction promotion. Given the strong numbers Elite XC did on Saturday night for CBS I wouldn’t be surprised if another network gained a sudden interest in airing MMA programming. After fielding a pretty deep talent roster and adding Trump for some celebrity clout I would think Affliction is well situated should another network come calling.

With all the controversy surrounding many aspects of Kimbo Slice’s fight against James Thompson I found Bas Rutten’s commentary on the fight to be a good read. In addition to being an MMA legend Bas is also Kimbo’s trainer, which makes some of his opinions seem refreshingly honest. Click “Read More” for some of the highlights.
