With The Ultimate Fighter Season 7 entering its third week on television, the UFC is already planning season 8. According to the Cage Potato website, the coaches for next season will be heavyweights Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The two would then square off following the conclusion of the season with Big Nog defending the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
One of the reasons that past TUF seasons have been successful is because of the coaches personalities and I don't know if these two would provide that needed spark. Plus, it could mean that neither would fight between now and then. If that is true, then the heavyweight title wouldn't be defended until the end of the year. That would be at least 10 months between title defenses. Comments (4) | Views: 429 | Read more... |

While UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture is engaged in a legal battle over his contract with the company, it seems that fans are starting to get antsy about wanting to see him fight again. But Couture only has one guy on his mind: Fedor Emelianenko. So what about a bout against interim UFC title holder Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera? In an interview with 15Rounds.com, Couture addressed that point.
"I’m 44 and looking at the end of my career. I want to fight the best guy in the world and be considered the best guy as well. That fight is the only way that will happen. It doesn’t make sense – the UFC is criticizing me for not fighting (Antonio Rodrigo) Nogueira, and I have a lot of respect for Nogueira. I think he’s a great fighter, but he’s been beat by Fedor twice. That fight doesn’t make sense for me right now. If I have more fights left in me after Fedor, maybe I’ll fight Nogueira then, but right now, it just doesn’t make sense.”
While it could be a hell of a fight between 'The Natural' and 'Minotauro', it looks like that won't be happening and Randy only wants to walk that aisle with Fedor. Comments (1) | Views: 349 | Read more... |

That's the news coming from MMA Junkie after speaking with O'Brien's manager Ken Pavia.
"Yes, you could say we were surprised by the UFC's decision," Pavia said."
O'Brien had been battling serious back issues for 14 months before returning to action in March where he lost to Andrei Arlovski. Pavia revealed that O'Brien had recently signed a new deal with the company and had two fights remaining on his contract.
The report goes on to say that O'Brien has already signed a two-fight deal with Palace Fighting Championships and hopes to return to the UFC at some point.
This seems to be a situation where not having an exciting style really came back to bit O'Brien hard. Yes, he won some fights in the UFC. But the bottom line for the company is putting on thrilling fights and that is something that O'Brien simply was not doing. Be first to comment this article | Views: 341 | Read more... |
