Last night's No Surrender PPV featured five title matches, a four-team Lethal Lockdown Match, and the crowning of a new TNA World Champion.
Sarita and Taylor Wilde over The Beautiful People in the finals of the Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament via Wilde’s pinfall on Madison Rayne. Rayne substituted for the departed Angelina Love, whose release from the company was briefly touched upon by Mike Tenay during commentary.
Hernandez over Eric Young via pinfall. Young cut an earlier backstage promo promising not to lay a hand on Hernandez in another attempt to sway the former LAX member into The World Elite. Young made good on his words by offering no offense during the bout, allowing Hernandez to hit the Border Toss for the victory in under a minute.
X Division Champion Samoa Joe over Daniels via submission. This was a great match, although (as expected) not up to the standards of the pair’s 2005 showdowns. Joe applied his Kokina Clutch finishing hold to get the clean tapout win.
D’Angelo Dinero over Suicide via pinfall in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. This was an unannounced bonus bout which featured both men using various objects against each other, including production equipment and a dumpster. Suicide placed Dinero on a table, but missed a legdrop from above the entrance tunnel, allowing The Black Pope to attain the three-count. Very good match - albeit dangerous for the participants - but this definitely should have been advertised prior to the show.
ODB over Cody Deaner via pinfall to win the vacant Knockouts Championship. I will admit this match was far less painful than I had feared, and the right person thankfully went over. ODB scored the clean pin following a TKO.
Legends Champion Kevin Nash over Abyss via pinfall in a $50,000 Bounty Match. Classic TNA overbooking was on full display here, with interference from Dr. Stevie, Daffney, and guest color commentator Mick Foley. Abyss asked The Hardcore Legend to hand him a barbed wire baseball bat, but Nash used a taser gun on the groin of The Monster as the referee prevented the exchange. Post-match, a dissatisfied Stevie refused to pay Nash the bounty, prompting Big Sexy to Jackknife the “therapist” and seize the cash anyway.
Beer Money, Inc. and Team 3D over IWGP Tag Team Champions The British Invasion and TNA Tag Team Champions Scott Steiner and Booker T via pinfall on Doug Williams.
Bobby Lashley over Rhino via pinfall.
AJ Styles over Sting, Matt Morgan, Hernandez, and World Champion Kurt Angle in a five-way match via pinfall on Angle to win the title. Hernandez appeared before the bell and announced that he was cashing in his Feast or Fired briefcase for inclusion into the contest. However, the big man was soon taken out of the bout by an interfering Eric Young, who blindsided Hernandez on the entrance stage and piledrove him. Styles enjoyed a huge post-match celebration with friends and fans inside the ring following his pin on Angle. It’s great to see AJ with the belt again, but Hernandez’ FOF title shot was rendered completely meaningless, as he was booked as a non-player during the bout he cashed in on.
