Last night's Raw featured the official contract signing for John Cena's WWE Title defense against Randy Orton at Hell in the Cell, U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston taking on Jack Swagger, and more.

The show began with guest host Cedric the Entertainer arriving in a limousine. A number of strange passengers emerged from the vehicle, including several football players, a farmer, and others. This was an unfortunate sign of things to come during the broadcast.

Triple H over Cody Rhodes via disqualification. DX cut a good pre-match promo reminding us of their successful history in Hell in a Cell bouts. Rhodes and Ted DiBiase took out Shawn Michaels on the outside, and then proceeded to lay out Hunter using a steel chair and both of their finishing moves.

Cedric the Entertainer addressed the audience from the entrance ramp and performed some bad comedy, including the display of modified WWE wrestler photos on the TitanTron. Santino Marella arrived and launched into some bad jokes of his own. Chavo Guerrero eventually appeared and challenged Cedric to a match later in the show, which Marella accepted on the actor’s behalf.

The Miz over Evan Bourne via pinfall. Miz was attacked by U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston during an earlier backstage interview, where Kingston retrieved his stolen belt.

WWE Champion John Cena and Randy Orton appeared mid-ring for the official contract signing of their match at Hell in the Cell. Orton pointed out that Cena has never been inside the structure and tells the Titleholder he does not know what to expect. Cena responded by showing footage of Orton saying “I Quit!” at Breaking Point and vowed to destroy The Legend Killer in two weeks. As Orton was unable to touch Cena due to a no physicality rule, the Legacy leader introduced Chris Jericho and The Big Show to take out his PPV opponent. MVP and Mark Henry made the save for Cena, prompting Cedric the Entertainer to book a six-man television main event.

Beth Phoenix over Women’s Champion Mickie James via pinfall in a non-title match. Mickie was quickly defeated by Phoenix after being distracted by guest color commentator Alicia Fox. Post-match, Fox laid out James with a scissor kick.

U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston wrestled Jack Swagger to a no-contest. The Miz came to ringside and once again stole the U.S. Title, but was stopped by Swagger as he made his way up the aisle. The All-American American then picked up the belt and walked to the back. The referee (for whatever reason) never counted Swagger out.

Cedric the Entertainer over Chavo Guerrero via pinfall with Santino Marella serving as Guest Referee. Horrible. Cedric “wrestled” in a mask and cape, which allowed a larger imposter Entertainer to temporarily replace him wearing the same costume mid-way through the match. A masked Hornswoggle later hit a Tadpole Splash on Guerrero, allowing the original Cedric to return for the three-count. If anything could possibly be worse than the Chavo-Hornswoggle feud, it was this.

Jerry Lawler announced that this would be ring announcer Lilian Garcia’s final night with the company, and a tearful Lilian proceeded to deliver a speech thanking the fans and expressing her love for WWE. I would like to join millions of other fans around the world in wishing Lilian the very best.

Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho and The Big Show along with Randy Orton over WWE Champion John Cena, MVP, and Mark Henry via Orton’s pinfall on Henry. As a result of a pre-bout stipulation, the Raw kingpin must now take on Show, Jericho, and Orton in a Gauntlet Match next week.
