This episode of Smackdown features a one-on-one match-up between Kane and Batista to determine the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, also, an Intercontinental Match between Eric Escobar and Champ John Morrison. Plus a non-title match between Chris Jericho and World Heavyweight Champ, The Undertaker. All this, and a whole lot more. Tonight we emanate from beautiful Bridgeport, Connecticut. We begin with Chris Jericho cutting an in-ring promo on his TLC PPV opponents, DX. Tonight, he wants to be included in the #1 Contenders match. He gets interrupted by Teddy Long. He tells Jericho that he will face The Undertaker in a non-title match instead.
Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty Backstage, John Morrison is in Teddy Longs office. They are interrupted by Vickie Guerrero and Eric Escobar. Vickie convinces Teddy to put Eric in a championship match. Teddy caves. CM Punk cuts an in-ring promo and he has a friend. There’s a large man with tattoos and a skull cap standing behind him. Punk introduces him as Luke Gallows. He used to be Festus. He says that he helped reform Gallows. Punk has a copy of the Jeff Hardy DVD. He says it’s worse than any drug, or alcohol. He gets interrupted by Matt Hardy. They’re apparently having a match.
Matt Hardy vs. CM Punk We see a recap of Michelle McCool and Layla picking on Mickie James. Josh is backstage with Mickie. She says she’s not going anywhere.
Batista vs. Kane in a #1 Contenders Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Eric Escobar vs. Intercontinental Champion John Morrison in a title match After an ad-break, Escobar and Vickie are backstage and they make it official, they make each other sick. They break up, and the world weeps.
Chris Jericho vs. The World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker in a non-title match Post-match, Jericho nails Taker with a Codebreaker, and exits the ring. Batista enters and bashes Taker with a chair several times.
Fade to black, good night from Bridgeport.
