This episode of Smackdown features a #1 Contender triple threat Divas match, a one-on-one bout between Drew McIntyre and John Morrison, and a tag team match between Cryme Tyme and Jeri-Show. All this plus a whole lot more.
Tonight we emanate from beautiful Hampton, Virginia. (My birthplace, home of the Hampton Coliseum and Langley Air Force Base).
CM Punk (with Luke Gallows) vs. R Truth
Punk shows true heel form here. Yelling during the match that “No one disrespects me!”. Truth gets in his obligatory high flying offense. They go outside, and Punk rams Truth’s shoulder into the ringpost. Truth fights the rest of the match with one arm. Endgame: Gallows from the outside trips up Truth, and the ref rings the bell.
Your winner, as a result of a disqualification, R Truth. Post-match, Gallows and Punk administer a beat-down of the now one-armed R Truth.
Kane vs. Mike Knox
Big man vs. big man match. Endgame: Kane choke slams Knox for the 1-2-3.
Your winner as a result of pinfall, Kane.
Backstage, Matthews interviews Jeri-Show. Jericho is in true heel form here as he runs down their TLC PPV opponents, DX.
Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya in a triple threat Diva match to determine the #1 Contender for Women’s Title
Layla and Michelle McCool join Grisham and Stryker ringside, and are wearing t-shirts that say “Piggie James”. Mickie gets thrown out of the ring twice, and Beth and Natalya face off before a mid-match ad break. (grrrr). When we return, Mickie is back in the ring and getting more punishment from Beth and Natty. Endgame: Natalya tries to get the Sharpshooter on Mickie. Beth pulls off Natalya and drops her with a Glam Slam. As she goes for the pin on Natalya, Mickie drop kicks her out of the ring and pins Natalya for the 1-2-3. Your winner and new #1 Contender to Women’s Championship, Mickie James. Post-match, Matthews interviews Mickie who calls out McCool. Not smart, as Michelle and Layla attack Mickie. But the odds get even as Maria comes to the ring to make the save.
Batista and Teddy Long share a moment in Teddy’s office. We learn that next week, Batista and Rey Mysterio will have a street fight match. In the locker room, Matt Hardy and John Morrison share a moment. Hardy is playing Morrison’s Raw vs. Smackdown video game on Xbox 360 (Morrison vs. McIntyre). Matt says that he didn’t know that Drew McIntyre was a character in the game. Morrison says he’s not, Morrison created him. And the only thing better than beating Drew in virtual reality, is watching him do it in real life. Matt: “Go get him homey”.
Intercontinental Champion John Morrison vs. Drew McIntyre in a non-title match
Very good match. At one point, Morrison is on the apron outside the ropes, and McIntyre is on the inside, he rams John’s shoulder into the ringpost, and Morrison goes flying back first into the security railing. McIntyre takes control for a while in a good back and forth. Endgame: Both guys are outside the ring. Drew exposes the steel support beams of the ring, and he pulls John’s head down into them. He pulls Morrison into the ring, and drops him with a Double Underhook DDT for the 1-2-3.
Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Drew McIntyre.
In the ring, Vickie Guerrero annoys me and the crowd, and calls out Eric Escobar. The two share a moment, and Vickie books Eric in a handicapped match against the Hart Dynasty.
Eric Escobar vs. The Hart Dynasty in a handicapped match
Eric gets in some offense, but the Harts eventually take over. Endgame: The Hart Dynasty hits the Hart Attack on Escobar for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, The Hart Dynasty. Post match, the Harts help Vickie slap Eric.
Backstage, Matthews interviews Luke Gallows and CM Punk.
Cryme Tyme vs. Unified Tag Team Champions Jeri-Show in a non-title match
Very quick match. Endgame: Shad and Show get hot tags, but Show knocks out Shad with a straight right hand. He pins him for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, Jeri-Show.
After ad break, The Undertaker is on his way to the ring to call out Batista. Dave attacks him from behind with a chair, and drops him with a Batista-Bomb. He stands over him with the World Heavyweight Title.
