This Christmas episode of Smackdown features a WWE Unified Tag Team Championship match between DX and The Hart Dynasty, and a World Heavyweight Title match between Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker. All this, plus a whole lot more.
Tonight we emanate from beautiful Orlando, Florida. (Hey, I live there!)
We begin with Teddy and Vickie in a kitchen making Christmas dinner. They are interrupted by Hornswoggle. (never thought I’d be happy to see him).
R Truth, Matt Hardy, Finlay, and John Morrison vs. Intercontinental Champ Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Luke Gallows, and Dolph Ziggler in an 8 man team match.
Matt and Punk share a lot of ring time before a mid-ring ad break….(grrr). When we return, Matt is taking the brunt of the punishment from the baddies, until a hot tag to Morrison. It eventually turns into a pier 8 brawl. Endgame: After everybody shares time nailing their finishers, Morrison hits Starship Pain on Ziggler for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, R Truth, Matt Hardy, Finlay, and John Morrison.
Chris Jericho cuts an in-ring promo. He is interrupted in the ring by The Hart Dynasty and on the Titan-Tron by DX. HHH and HBK hock their wares, make fun of Jeri-Show, The Harts, and Canada. The Hart Dynasty takes the opportunity to attack Jericho in the ring.
Backstage, Mickie James runs into Layla, and Michelle McCool. They give her a gift certificate to Jenny Craig, and call her Piggie James. Hilarious.
In the locker room, Josh interviews Rey Mysterio. In the “well, duh” moment of the night, he says he knows he’s the underdog in the match.

Overall, these two guys gave a good free-tv quality match. Mysterio always brings out his best when he’s facing guys who are twice as big as him. He always seems to absorb an enormous amount of punisment, before a high-flying comeback. This match is no different. Endgame: Taker drops Rey with a chokeslam, and Batista ruins the match by attacking The Undertaker. No winner announced. Post-match, Rey delivers a 619 to both Taker and Batista.
Backstage, Cryme Tyme assaults a Santa Claus, and steals his bag of goodies.
Cryme Tyme vs. Bryce Andrews and Pat Buck (who?).
Pre-match, Cryme Tyme hands out the toys that were in the bag to the folks ringside. Typical squash match. Endgame: Cryme Tyme nails the G 9 for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, Cryme Tyme.
Mickie James and Maria vs. Layla and Beth Phoenix in a Diva tag team match.
Michelle McCool is on commentary and insults Mickie the entire time. As for the match itself, standard Diva tag team match fare. Beth destroys Maria until a blind tag from Layla. Endgame: Maria makes a hot tag to Mickie who unleashes hell on Layla for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, Mickie James and Maria. Post-match, Mickie attacks Michelle. Beth gets involved, and takes out Mickie and Maria.
Unified Tag Team Champions Degeneration-X vs. The Hart Dynasty in a title match.
HHH puts Kidd in the single longest standing vertical suplex in wrestling history, even taking time to point directly at DH Smith. After a mid-match ad-break…(grrrr), Smith returns the favor to HHH. Good overall match. HBK takes most of the punishment including a painful-looking Flair flip in the corner. Endgame: DH Smith runs into Sweet Chin Music from HBK, and a Pedigree from HHH for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall and still Unified Tag Team Champions, DX.
Post-match, Hornswoggle joins DX to wish the crowd a Merry Christmas and a crotch chop.
