This episode of Raw features Mr. McMahon addressing the rumors concerning Bret “The Hitman” Hart’s return to Monday Night Raw, and a title match between WWE Champ Sheamus and John Cena. All this, plus a whole lot more.
Tonight we emanate from beautiful Hartford, Connecticut.
We begin with Chris Jericho out in front of the arena with a bullhorn asking the fans to sign his petition to get him back on Raw. We learn that tonight DX is facing The Big Show and a partner of his choosing.
John Cena comes to the ring and grabs a table. He cuts a promo while seated at the top of the turnbuckle. He reminds us that he has a rematch with Sheamus tonight for the title, and he wants it right now. He wants it to be a tables match. Sheamus comes out and refuses to grant him that wish. Cena jumps over the table, and drops Sheamus with an Attitude Adjustment through the table.
Backstage, tonight’s special guest Timbaland, the Bella Twins and Gail Kim are sitting on a couch and are interrupted by Josh Matthews. Timbaland confirms the match for the Championship is still on.
In the locker room, we see Legacy, and it sounds like Randy wants them to break up. He sets up matches tonight: Ted DiBiase vs. Evan Bourne, and Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry. Orton will be ringside, and if they lose their matches, he will kick them out of Legacy, and beat the living hell out of both of them.
Jericho is seen outside the arena still using the bullhorn asking people sign his petition, but no one is paying him any attention.
Ted DiBiase vs. Evan Bourne.
Randy Orton is ringside for this match. Good back and forth offense from both guys. Too short for either guy to get into a rhythm, though. Endgame: DiBiase drops Bourne with Dreamstreet for the 1-2-3. Your winners, as a result of a pinfall, Ted DiBiase. He gets to stay in Legacy.
Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry.
Henry dominates early with his typical offense. He injures his leg however, and Rhodes take advantage. Endgame: Rhodes kicks Henry’s knee and delivers a DDT for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Cody Rhodes. He gets to stay in Legacy. Post-match, Orton shakes Rhodes hand as they leave ringside.
Backstage, Jillian wants to get in to see Timbaland, and Gail wont let her. HHH is seen with Hornswoggle duct-taped to a skateboard, wearing a helmet. HBK looks distressed. He says he’s worried about Vince and Bret, and he wants to confront Vince. HHH tells him to not do anything stupid. Just as he does, he launches Hornswoggle toward Jillian and Timbaland, knocking down Jillian in the process.
Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse in a Diva match.
Endgame: Maryse drops Kelly with a DDT for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Maryse. Post-match, Maryse speaks French and giggles. Then she kicks Kelly in the ribs.
Jericho is still outside. Big Show interrupts him, and tells him that they wont get the rematch. They turn the scene into an awkward break-up. Show says he moved on. Jericho asks him if there’s someone else. Show hands Chris an envelope, and Jericho laughs.
Mr. McMahon struts to the ring. He tosses to a video package featuring his history with Bret Hart. That is still one of the best loogies in the history of saliva. McMahon reminds us the Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart. He announces that next week on Raw, the guest host will be…………….. “I can’t do it, Bret Hart will never be the guest host on Raw.” Just as he’s about to leave, HBK’s music cranks up, and out he comes. He doesn’t want to talk about Bret Hart. Instead, he wants Vince to make the rematch against The Undertaker. Vince refuses, and says if this rematch is going to happen, then Shawn’s going to have to make it happen. HBK appeals to Vince to bring Bret back to Raw. Vince makes it official, next week on Raw, the special guest host will be, Bret “The Hitman” Hart.
Backstage, Matthews interviews Cena. Who is attacked by Sheamus.
In Timbaland’s office, MVP and Kofi decide that they will have a US Title rematch if Kofi beats Miz for the title. They get interrupted by Miz, and he’s not happy. Timbaland makes a change to tonight’s match. If Kofi beats Miz in a non-title match tonight, he has to face him in a title match immediately following. Really.
US Champ The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston in a non-title match.
Very short match here. Endgame: Miz tries a top rope move and Kofi counters with a Trouble in Paradise kick for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Kofi Kingston.
US Champ The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston in a title match.
This match is a little longer. Kofi is in control the whole way. Endgame: Kofi hits the Boom-drop and another Trouble in Paradise kick and pins The Miz. Just as he does, he gets pulled out of the ring by Randy Orton. Your winner as a result of a disqualification, Kofi Kingston. Orton slams Kofi’s head into the steel ringpost, and nails him with an RKO.
Backstage Josh interviews Orton. He tells us that he will have a match next week against Kofi.
Unified Tag Team Champions DX vs. The Big Show and Chavo Guerrero in a non-title match.
Chris Jericho is seen coming through the crowd and producing a ticket to the show. Jericho looks a little jealous when he sees Chavo. Endgame: Hornswoggle appears and tries to give Chavo a Pedigree. He reverses it and backdrops Swoggs. Chavo turns around right into a HHH Pedigree for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, DX. Post-match, Jericho enters the ringside area, pitches a fit, and gets Sweet Chin Music for his troubles. HHH makes a match for next week. If Jeri-Show wins, they get the tag titles. If DX wins, Jericho stays off Raw, forever.
WWE Champ Sheamus vs. John Cena in a title match.
Very disappointing match. Endgame: Cena gets Sheamus up for the Attitude Adjustment. Sheamus grabs the rope and the referee, who then calls for the bell to disqualify him. Your winner as a result of a disqualification, John Cena, but still WWE Champ, Sheamus. Post-match, Cena tries to attack Sheamus, but the Irishman turns the tables, and kicks him in the head. He grabs the belt and stands at the top of the ramp with the title held high.
Fade to black, good night from Hartford.
