This episode of Raw features the return of the one and only Bret “The Hitman” Hart. There’s also a fatal four way match to determine a #1 Contender for the US Title. Plus, Jeri-Show takes on DX for the Unified Tag Team Championship. All this, and a whole lot more.

Tonight we emanate from beautiful Dayton, Ohio.

We begin with the best there is, the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be. Bret Hart makes his way to the ring and he looks good. He calls out Shawn Michaels, who obliges his request. The two stand face to face in the middle of the ring for the first time in over a decade. The two make amends, and agree to bury the hatchet over the Montreal Screwjob. They shake hands and hug, and HBK leaves the ring. Hart calls out Mr. McMahon, who doesn’t show.

Backstage, Josh Matthews informs Mr. McMahon that Bret called him out. Vince was in a meeting and missed it. (At 9pm on Monday? Was he watching something else by any chance?).

Cole and King inform us that Melina was injured and will be out of action for about six months. She had to vacate her title, and there will be a Tournament to determine the next champion.

Brie Bella w/ Nikki Bella vs. Maryse in a Divas Championship Tournament match.
What can I say? It’s a Divas match with one of the Bella Twins. Endgame: Brie and Nikki try the ol’ switcheroo, but Maryse just kicks Nikki and plants her with the French Kiss DDT for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Maryse. She advances in the tournament.

Post-match, The Miz shares a moment with Maryse on the ramp. He takes a seat at the commentary table.

MVP vs. Jack Swagger vs. Carlito vs. Mark Henry in a fatal four way match to determine the #1 Contender for the US Title.
Typical four-way match. Lots of near falls and double teams. Endgame: MVP hits the Playmaker on Swagger for the 1-2-3. Your winner and new #1 Contender for the US Title, MVP.

Backstage, Chris Jericho and Bret Hart share a moment. Jericho wants Bret to be the guest referee for tonight’s tag team match. Bret declines.

We see HHH and Hornswoggle (HSG?) play with toys. They get interrupted by HBK. Santino joins the fun dressed as Chris Jericho, complete with suit and blond spiked wig. HHH orders HSG to attack. He does, and beats up Santino behind a couch. HHH rewards him with a cookie.

Unified Tag Team Champions DX vs. Jeri-Show in a title match.
Good long match. Plenty of tags and near falls from both. Endgame: After an HSG distraction, Jericho tries to get HHH in the Walls of Jericho, but HBK hits him with Sweet Chin Music. HHH pins Jericho for the 1-2-3. Your winners as a result of a pinfall, and still Unified Tag Team Champions, DX. Post-match, Jericho is serenaded with a chorus of “Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Good-Bye!” from the crowd as he walks up the Raw ramp for the last time.

Mr. McMahon and Randy Orton share a moment backstage. Orton wants to have Vince’s back when he confronts Hart. In exchange for a Royal Rumble entry #30. Vince declines. As Randy leaves, he runs into Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, and they propose the same ultimatum as he gave them last week.

We learn that the guest host next week will be “Iron” Mike Tyson.

Sheamus cuts an in-ring promo. He is interrupted by Evan Bourne. He challenges Sheamus to a match. A referee shows up and if Bourne beats Sheamus, he gets a title shot at The Royal Rumble.

Evan Bourne vs. WWE Champion Sheamus in a non-title match.
Bourne is a house of fire early, but Sheamus just annihilates him. Endgame: Sheamus hits him with the Crucifix power bomb for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Sheamus.

RIP Dr. Death Steve Williams.

Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton.
DiBiase and Rhodes sit ringside for this one. Good match that gets lots of time. Endgame: Kofi tries the Trouble in Paradise kick, but Randy blocks it and drops Kingston with the RKO for the 1-2-3. Your winner as a result of a pinfall, Randy Orton.

Mr. McMahon comes to the ring, and says he won’t call out Bret Hart. Hitman comes out anyway, sans entrance music. (Is that legal?) The two have a very long conversation in the ring. Vince wants Bret to say I’m sorry. Those weren’t the two words Bret was thinking about saying. McMahon really just wanted to kick Bret in the guts. But in the interest of being honest, Vince says he wants to bury the hatchet too. He praises Bret’s career and tells him he really became the excellence of execution. He tells Bret that his dad, Stu Hart will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Bret is appreciative, and it’s all smiles and handshakes. Until, that is, when Vince kicks Bret right in the gut.

Fade to black, good night from Dayton.
