Matt Lindland now can a new gig to his impressive list of accomplishments, including a 20-5 MMA record, former UFC contender, Olympic silver medalist, IFL coach, two-time Pan American Champion and now... Oregon state representative nominee. According to MMAjunkie.com Matt Lindland filed for a state representatives seat last Tuesday in the rural areas of Clackamas and Multnomah Counties and all of the Hood River are (in and around the Portland area). Lindland is hoping to become the Republican nominee. Lindland, who was born and still resides in Oregon, is familiar with at least one part of the Oregon political process, he was the driving force in getting MMA sanctioned in the state. He also intorduced professional MMA (through Sportfight) in February 2004. Lindland has not fought a professional fight since his April 2007 loss to Fedor Emelianenko, his second in his last eleven fights. As an Oregon resident, I'd consider both registering in that district and switching political affiliations for the opportunity to say "I voted for Matt Lindland". Now, the next question is can the residents of my fine state actually let a fighter represent them?
