Cruiserweight Title Inactive?
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Friday, 14 March 2008
Jason Powell's PROWRESTLING.NET has posted information from a reader who had noticed that the WWE Cruiserweight Championship is listed as being defunct in WWE.com's title history section. This would suggest that the belt has - for now at least - been rendered dormant.

The last recognized WWE Cruiserweight Champion is Hornswoggle, who won a Cruiserweight Open to claim the title at last year's Great American Bash.

To be honest, the CW title hasn\'t meant anything for a while now. The WWE doesn\'t care about that title especially with Vince\'s hardon for 300 pound guys that can\'t wrestle (Khali, Mark Henry, Big Daddy V). It\'s sad, really.

Is it me, or has every title, minus the two big ones, become basically defunked after the atitude era... I mean, remember when the IC meant something, and HHH and the Rock had a classic latter match for it... remember when the European one meant something... remember the Hardcore title... even the tag team titles have become shit.... again, I blame the writters and creative, because as it stands now, i have no idea how they can bring any title back....

Truth is, they don't need that many titles anyway. If I'm honest, I never noticed that they stopped having CW matches. Since the brands were connected on PPVs theres been no room for them anyhow.

WWE needs two titles on each brand (WWE/World and US/IC), a tag and a womens if they really have to. Only then will the titles mean something. The IC title now means something, thanks to Jeff's great run and now Jericho will do some good stuff I'm sure.
