TNA Impact Recap - 4/03/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Friday, 04 April 2008
Last night's Impact continued to build toward Lockdown, as both Lethal Lockdown teams fortified their ranks with the addition of new members and Kurt Angle requested a signed contract next week from Samoa Joe in regard to their World Title match at the Pay-Per-View.

The show kicked off with Jim Cornette in a state of distress due to Matt Morgan approving James Storm as Team Tomko’s fifth member for Lethal Lockdown. Tomko and his troops then welcomed Morgan into the ring, high-fiving and shaking hands with the TNA Management Assistant. Morgan allowed Christian Cage to choose a fifth teammate as well - a partner who would be revealed by the end of the night.

Kurt Angle told Jeremy Borash that he (figuratively) no longer knows the name of his wife. Scott Steiner later confronted Angle in the ring and told the Olympian that he intends to cash in his Feast or Fired World Title shot at May’s Sacrifice Pay-Per-View. Personally, I cannot imagine Steiner headlining a PPV against either Angle or Samoa Joe, and would not be at all surprised if the match ended up on television instead.

Another great video package aired of Samoa Joe training for his World Championship match with Angle at Lockdown. Kurt also requested that Joe sign an official contract next week on Impact stating that he will retire should Angle win their PPV bout. As effective as the Joe videos have been, I agree that he should appear on next Thursday’s program to help promote the big match.

James Storm battled Sting in the main event with Matt Morgan serving as special guest referee. All indications were that Morgan would favor Storm during the match, but Morgan thwarted The Cowboy and Jackie Moore’s illegal tactics and assisted Sting in defeating Storm. Afterward, Team Tomko confronted Morgan, who aided Christian Cage’s crew in running off the heels. Cage tore off Morgan’s striped official’s top to reveal a “Team Cage” T-shirt underneath. This was a genuine surprise to me and I enjoyed it - unlike most other Vince Russo swerves, this plot had direction and served a purpose.

In other news, Shark Boy qualified for the Lockdown Xscape bout by defeating Elix Skipper and a Queen of the Cage Match was announced featuring TNA Knockouts. The girls will begin brawling on the arena floor and the first two women to make it inside the ring will compete in a match.

Match Results: LAX and The Motor City Machineguns over Black Reign, Rellik, and The Rock ‘N’ Rave Infection via pinfall when Hernandez pinned Jimmy Rave … AJ Styles and Tomko over Christian Cage and Rhino via disqualification in a non-title match when Rhino Gored referee Andrew Thomas … Shark Boy over Elix Skipper via pinfall in an Xscape Qualifying Match … Traci Brooks over Payton Banks via pinfall … Sting over James Storm via pinfall.
