Fedor Annouces He Will Fight Tim Sylvia

In a surprising move top ranked heavyweight fight Fedor Emelianeko confirmed on Tuesday that he will fight former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia on July 19. Sherdog is reporting through sources the negotiations would tentatively scheduled in Dallas the home base for HDNet Fights.

HDNet fights has made no comment either way though it is believed that the fight will air on the Mark Cuban owned network, rumored to be promoted by Affliction, a clothing company closing tied in the MMA world.

This would be Emelianeko's first ranked fight opponent since his victory over Mirko Cro Cop almost three years ago. This would be Sylvia's first post-UFC fight after his UFC 81 loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria.

Big IF, but what if Tim actually wins ? Does UFC say "damn, we had that guy" ? Does Randy say "Hell yeah, bring it on" ?

hmmm - it will be very interesting to see how Sylvia does against Fedor. And if he does manage to pull off the upset win, I think that will confirm Randy Couture as the best HW in the world (ie. Sylvia beats Fedor, and Randy beat Sylvia convincingly).
