WWE Raw Recap - 4/28/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Tuesday, 29 April 2008
The post-Backlash edition of Raw picked up right where the PPV left off, as the show featured a twelve-Diva tag rematch, Shawn Michaels addressing his alleged knee injury on Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel, and Randy Orton challenging Triple H for The Game's newly won WWE Title.

The program kicked off with new WWE Champion Triple H coming to the ring in celebration of his championship victory at Backlash the previous night. Hunter declared the “Age of Orton” dead, but The Legend Killer arrived to spoil his former Evolution teammate’s party. Orton announced that he would use his rematch clause to challenge Triple H at Judgement Day, but later chose to employ the right on this show when The Game attacked him. Neither the fans in the arena or at home saw a definitive conclusion to that bout, however, as General Manager William Regal ordered the technical crew to take the match off of the air in an effort to teach both the audience and the Raw roster some respect. WrestlingObserver.com reported that Regal then came to the ring and stopped the contest to punish the live crowd as well.

Regal’s foul mood stemmed from an earlier altercation with the returning Mr. Kennedy, who interrupted the GM’s King of the Ring coronation ceremony and challenged Regal to a match. The KOTR winner declined and instead nailed Kennedy with a cheap shot and threw him to the outside. The loudmouthed grappler proceeded to attack Regal and the two brawled before being separated by officials.

Chris Jericho welcomed Shawn Michaels to a special awards edition of his Highlight Reel interview segment. Jericho presented HBK with a trophy in honor of Michaels’ knee injury during his match against Batista at Backlash, believing that Shawn feigned the damage to score a win over The Animal (the other two nominees were Mr. Fuji and The Magnificent Muraco for their roles in the Tuesday Night Titans‘ Fuji General skit from the mid-80s and Michael Cole for Heidenreich‘s implied intercourse with him in 2004). Michaels took the microphone and claimed that he was legitimately hurt, but Jericho simply brushed off the statement and exited the ring.

Match Results: WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Maria, Ashley Massaro, Michelle McCool, and Cherry over Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, Melina, Victoria, Layla, and Natalya via Mickie’s pinfall on Jillian … JBL over Robbie McAllister via pinfall … Paul London and Brian Kendrick over Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch via Kendrick’s pinfall on Murdoch … Paul and Katie Lea Burchill over Super Crazy in a handicap match via Katie’s pinfall on Crazy … Cody Rhodes over Santino Marella via pinfall … WWE Champion Triple H and Randy Orton wrestled to a no-contest.

I can't decide what I liked more, Kennedy yelling in Regal's face, Roddy Piper being hit on, or Heidenrape.
