has posted some quotes from an MMA Weekly radio interview with Rich Franklin’s manager Monte Cox that indicate Franklin may be considering moving up in weight classes. Monte said “he's not helping the 185-pound division right now by beating everybody up in it…There's a whole bunch of 205's that I think would be interesting."
I think this would be a good move for Franklin at this point in his career. After getting dominated twice by Anderson Silva it’s clear that he won’t be returning to the top of the middleweight division anytime in the foreseeable future. Despite these losses to Silva Franklin is still skilled enough to be more than just a gatekeeper for a division. A move up to the already loaded light heavyweight division would provide him with more than enough interesting fights and probably a clearer direction on where his career is headed.
