TNA Sacrifice Recap
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Monday, 12 May 2008
TNA crowned new Tag Team Champions last night during the company's Sacrifice PPV, an event also featuring the debut of TerrorDome, a Knockout Makeover Battle Royale/Ladder Match, and Samoa Joe defending his TNA World belt in a three-way bout.

The show began with an announcement from Kurt Angle stating that - due to doctor’s orders - he would be unable to wrestle in the three-way main event against TNA Champion Samoa Joe and Scott Steiner (Angle injured his neck during a match in Korea last weekend).

The Deuces Wild Tag Team Title Tournament progressed throughout the night until only LAX and Team 3D remained to battle it out for the vacant straps. After Hector Guerrero took out an interfering Johnny Devine by coming off of the top turnbuckle with a double-stomp through a table, Homicide used a Frog Splash to pin Brother Devon and claim the belts.

Kaz emerged victorious in the first-ever TerrorDome Match, defeating nine other X Division stars to become the number-one contender to the X strap - and also earn a spot in the evening’s main event. Jim Cornette appeared before the bout began and announced that the winner of TerrorDome would replace Kurt Angle in the three-way. This match obviously contained very little psychology, but it was definitely an entertaining exhibition of high spots.

Gail Kim and Roxxi Laveaux outlasted each of the Knockout Title contenders in a battle royale, and then proceeded to compete in the inaugural TNA Women’s Ladder Match for an opportunity at Awesome Kong‘s Women‘s Championship. Kim’s victory in the Knockout Immunity bout on Impact protected her hair in the event of a loss here; therefore, it was Angelina Love - the final girl eliminated in the battle royale - positioned to have her head shaved should Laveaux win the match. Interference from both Love and Velvet Sky assisted Gail in defeating Roxxi, and The Voodoo Queen’s locks were sheared following the contest.

Samoa Joe successfully defended his TNA World Title over Scott Steiner and Kaz in the main event. Kevin Nash arrived with Steiner and his posse at the start of the PPV and they teased a heel turn for Big Sexy throughout the show. Nash, however, had no involvement here, causing one to wonder why so much time was spent building toward his seemingly inevitable interference during the match.

Match Results: Deuces Wild Tournament Quarterfinals: Team 3D over Sting and James Storm when Sting threw Storm through a table … Christian Cage and Rhino over Booker T and Robert Roode (Booker attacked Cage and Rhino with a steel chair following the bout) … LAX over Kip James and Matt Morgan … AJ Styles and Super Eric over BG James and Awesome Kong … Deuces Wild Semifinals: Team 3D over Cage and Rhino … LAX over Styles and Young … Deuces Wild Finals: LAX over Team 3D to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions … Kaz won a TerrorDome Match featuring ten X Division wrestlers … Gail Kim won a Makeover Battle Royale to earn a shot at the Knockout Title. Roxxi Laveaux had her head shaved as a result of losing the post-battle royale Ladder Match … TNA Champion Samoa Joe over Scott Steiner and Kaz via a pinfall on Steiner.

The show was OK.
The Tournament matches were not PPV quality, maybe the Final. They should have atleast had the first round on Impact. Because I was sick of the PPV after 2-3 Tag matches.
TerrorDome was solid, but just a big spotfest. After just one minute people hit their finishers. Too many people in it hurt this one.
Knockout Match, well the Battle Royal sucked but the Ladder match part was good.

The ME was good but pretty boring. I just didnt care, just like the crowd. At this time the PPV felt like it had gone on forever.

This was TNAs worst effort for a PPV this year. It was a OK PPV but this could very well been a 3 hour impact.

This PPV was pulled out of the trash pail of bad ideas for WCW booking !
