The show opened with Lilian Garcia - on General Manager William Regal’s orders - singing God Save The Queen. Regal reacted to his perceived disrespect from the crowd by having Mickie James’ brother thrown out of the arena along with his girlfriend, prompting the WWE Women’s Champion to confront her boss. After Regal threatened to strip Mickie of her belt, John Cena arrived and proceeded to read a number of anti-Regal fan emails. The GM announced a Cena-Randy Orton main event for later in the evening and promised that there would be no outside interference during the match. Cena lost that bout following a boot to the head and a fast count by John Bradshaw Layfield, whom Regal appointed as special referee toward the conclusion of the contest. JBL and Orton then double-teamed Cena until Triple H arrived to make the save. Layfield and Cena battled into the crowd, leaving Hunter and The Legend Killer alone inside the ring. As the two grappled, a cage lowered around the squared circle. Triple H tossed Orton through the side of the steel and looked down at his Judgment Day challenger from atop the structure as Raw concluded.

Chris Jericho called Shawn Michaels to the ring and apologized for his accusations regarding HBK’s alleged knee injury. Michaels, however, admitted that he was not hurt and had staged the damage to his leg in order to defeat Batista at Backlash. Jericho refused to accept Shawn’s story, but Michaels made a believer out of Y2J by nailing him with Sweet Chin Music.

Jeff Hardy returned to Raw and defeated Umaga in quick fashion. Hardy had vowed to regain the Intercontinental Championship before his microphone was cut off by William Regal, who then assigned The Samoan Bulldozer to make Jeff pay for his past mistakes.

In other news, Lance Cade attacked Trevor Murdoch following the duo’s victory over Cryme Tyme, and Roddy Piper assisted Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly in a successful Tag Team Title defense against Santino Marella and Carlito.
