WWE presented their Smackdown go-home show last night forty-eight hours before Sunday's Judgment Day PPV. The broadcast featured U.S. Champion Matt Hardy taking on Shelton Benjamin and the official in-ring debut of Vicki Guerrero.
The program kicked off with Assistant GM Theodore Long informing Vicki Guerrero that the WWE Board of Directors had decided to remove her as Smackdown General Manager if she did not compete in a match later in the evening. Vicki responded by firing Long as her second-in-command, but Teddy opted to quit instead. As he made his way up the ramp, Long stopped to announce that Vicki’s opponent would be The Undertaker. However, Edge’s love later used her power to change the bout into a six-on-one handicap match against she and each member of La Familia (I admit I‘m not exactly Mr. Corporate, but shouldn’t a Board decision remain unaffected by a GM ruling?). However, Bam Neely and Chavo Guerrero - who had expressed his displeasure at being left out of the loop regarding Vicki and Edge’s Championship Chase plan last week - walked away from the contest during their ring introductions. This left the happy couple along with Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins to do battle against ‘Taker. As The Dead Man prepared to chokeslam Vicki, Edge saved his fiancee by spearing Undertaker and retreating up the entranceway with his “family.”
In other news, Michelle McCool defeated Layla by debuting a new rolling ankle hook submission hold into her arsenal and Batista warned Shawn Michaels that he may appear at Judgment Day.
Match Results: CM Punk over Chuck Palumbo via pinfall … Michelle McCool over Layla via submission … The Big Show and Finlay over MVP and Mark Henry via Show’s pinfall on MVP … Vladimir Kozlov over Funaki via pinfall … Cherry over Maryse via pinfall … U.S. Champion Matt Hardy over Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match … The Undertaker wrestled Vicki Guerrero, Edge, Curt Hawkins, and Zack Ryder to a no-contest in a handicap match.
