Previewing WWE Judgment Day
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Sunday, 18 May 2008
WWE presents the Judgment Day PPV tonight, live from the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. While the card features a promising lineup on paper, repetition of top matches and lack of build for other bouts has left some viewers disinterested in this event. Nonetheless, here is a closer look at the annual May extravaganza.

The show is headlined by WWE Champion Triple H defending against Randy Orton inside a steel cage, while Smackdown contributes to the main event scene with Edge opposing The Undertaker for the vacant World Title. Although many fans are less than enthused at the prospect of a third consecutive ‘Taker-Edge PPV bout, these two have put together a very entertaining program over the past few months and their previous matches have been great. I do agree, however, that this feud should conclude tonight one way or another.

Orton and Triple H have also worked well together in recent months and their showdown within the steel tonight promises to be another great outing. An excellent match, but rather predictable in my opinion, as I just can’t see the strap being taken off Hunter a scant few weeks following his championship victory at Backlash.

Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels will continue their feud when HBK challenges Jericho for the Intercontinental Title. This should be another fantastic contest, but I have found the storyline itself somewhat strange. If Jericho’s accusations of Michaels feigning a knee injury were correct, what does it actually mean? Wouldn’t that position Y2J as the babyface? And how does Batista factor into this angle? Hopefully the answers to these questions will be provided tonight and this plot can move forward with more clarity.

The card also features John Cena taking on JBL, Mark Henry squaring off with The Big Show, WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz and John Morrison defending against ECW kingpin Kane and CM Punk, and Women’s Champion Mickie James placing her belt on the line in a three-way versus Beth Phoenix and Melina.

Honestly... the WORST PPV of the year so far.... nothing happened, nothing changed... complete crap.... why did the Undertaker lose the belt? Then regain it again???? WWE creative is awful....
