Who else but Mike Johnson of PWInsider would be reporting this, he's one of the best. Apparently, word going around the locker room is that The Undertaker has requested and more than likely will be getting some time off from the company. If you'll remember, the Undertaker, who was being booked as a "special attraction" there for a while, has been a constant performer since early 2006. So this time off coming is no surprise and more than well deserved. It will be interesting, however, to see if this fits in to tonight's extra stipulation (which seems to be getting no buzz at all) of if 'Taker loses against Edge in the TLC match, he must "Leave the WWE".
It does kind of bother me, personally, that last year when Undertaker wins the belt, is promised a lengthy title reign and gets injured, which was no one's fault. Now this year, the word was he was promised the to be compensated for last year by finally getting that lengthy title reign. Now, I can understand Vince's notion of Edge being a better champion than chaser, I'll agree. But if that's the case, put him back on RAW. Switch him for a Chris Jericho or a John Cena, I don't know, somebody. Having 'Taker win the belt at two consecutive Mania's, only to lose them in lackluster ways less than two months later not only makes the World Heavyweight Championship look more worthless than it already does (mind you, this is the same belt that was created just to be handed to Triple H) and it also makes Undertaker look weak and bad. I digress, back to his time off. Could this be the gimmick change Taker has wanted? It's been widely reported since 2004 that 'Taker wasn't too thrilled about switching back to the Deadman gimmick. Could this be another segue into Taker reforming back into the American Bad Ass? With the WWE, who knows.
Posted by: Mika Niininen at 06-01-2008 18:59 MMA gimmick for Taker, Mark "The Natural" Calaway ala Randy Couture :) Yeah, didnt think so either :P Posted by: ANBU at 06-01-2008 19:30 Shhh... Don't let anyone know that 'Taker really wants to fight Brock at the next UFC PPV. Posted by: Dan at 06-01-2008 19:42 I realy hope not. ndertaker should keep the title for a while then take time off, then return to fight his next wrestlemania opponent Posted by: chris kolinek at 06-01-2008 20:15 Is it a consequence that Bobby lashely has sign a deal with a MMA company and all of sudden taker takes time off. Something smells fishy. Posted by: Joe Gr at 06-01-2008 21:38 ^^^ Nothing smells fishy to me about any of this !! Posted by: Zach at 06-02-2008 05:11 So when do you think Taker will be back? How are they going to bring him back if he was "Banished", like what excuse or setup will they use? Posted by: Nathan V at 06-02-2008 15:54 I guess Mark 'Undertaker' Calloway didn't like being on the road too much because it he has to look after his real estate job as well as sort out personal issues which comes up from bein away from his homestate texas most of the year. He's a wwe veteran he deserves some time off to prevent lost of passion from working in th wrestling business and he worked so hard to impress wwe fans. I don't think we heard the last of the undertaker. (But if so, thank you for your dedication to the fans and the business, and we'll see you inducted at th hall of fame.) Write Comment
