EliteXC Delivers for CBS
The News - Mixed Martial Arts  |   Written by Brian Fritz   |   Monday, 02 June 2008

ImageNo matter what you thought about last night's EliteXC show on CBS, everyone involved with it has to be happy with its numbers. Based on the overnight numbers, the show did a 2.7 network rating. The number does not count the overrun so the final rating will be higher.

The rating grew throughout the show and reached an amazing 4.7 for the Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson fight which will make it the most watched MMA fight in history. It also finished #1 in the all-important 18-34 and 18-49 demos along with all male demos. While the number wasn't gigantic, it was a huge success.

success isn't always justified. It was a crap event with not one, not two, but five finishes that were too early. especially the last 3.

Note to CBS: Watch the replay of WEC's event to night to see how its done.

For free TV it was cool. I will be defenitly watching the next one. I agree that the stoppages were a little lame but the same thing would have happened in the UFC. But one thing I did notice was that most of the fighters were getting tired quickly, no cardio for anyone.

People need to stop talking so much shit about the "free" event.I thought it was fun overall. My only problem was with the stoppage to the Lawler fight but other than that I thought it was entertaining.Bottom line it was free so you dicks got your money's worth.
Peace

Doesn't matter that it was free or not. It could have been alot of people's first exposure to MMA and that was a crap event for it.
