WWE Smackdown Recap - 6/27/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Saturday, 28 June 2008
WWE presented the first post-Draft Smackdown last night, as WWE Champion Triple H and Umaga both debuted on the blue brand. Edge also squared off against U.S. Champion Matt Hardy in a Champion vs. Champion match and Rey Mysterio returned to bid goodbye to SD.

Following July Employee of the Month Jim Ross’ introduction to the Smackdown audience (Carlito garnered June’s honors), WWE Champion Triple H made his way to the ring and addressed the crowd. World Titleholder Edge interrupted Hunter’s speech, only to find himself ejected from the ring as he was eyeing Batista, who attacked The Rated R Superstar and stole the World Championship. Edge would later retrieve his strap when La Familia assaulted The Animal during his main event match against Umaga. Batista was rescued by former Evolution stablemate Triple H and the babyfaces simultaneously delivered their finishing moves to The Edgeheads shortly before the broadcast concluded.

Edge also battled Matt Hardy in a Champion vs. Champion bout earlier in the evening. The blond Canadian emerged victorious following a Spear in a solid outing.

In other news, Rey Mysterio cut a farewell promo to the Smackdown audience and it was announced that both Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy will make their Smackdown debuts next week.

Match Results: ECW Champion Kane and The Big Show over MVP and Mark Henry via Kane’s pinfall on MVP … Finlay and Hornswoggle over Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder via Hornswoggle’s pinfall on Ryder … World Champion Edge over U.S. Champion Matt Hardy in a non-title match … Maryse, Victoria, and Natalya over Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, and Cherry via Maryse’s pinfall on Cherry … Vladimir Kozlov over Domino via pinfall … Batista over Umaga via disqualification following interference from La Familia.

"WWE presented the first post-Draft television program last night"

Wow, people REALLY don't care about ECW do they?

Yeah, I have to admit, that went right over my head.

I'm beginning to feel like the Mike Adamle of BetweenTheRopes.com.

Keep yourself away from saying stuff like, "Jamaican me crazy!" and you'll be fine, Adam.

And since most of the talent worth watching on ECW is off the show now... Eh. There's always ABC.

Smackdown! is now jamaican ME crazy, I am pretty sure this week was the first time I watched the B brand since.... maybe when Heyman had the book, how long ago was that now? Think it was just about when Lesnar left WWE, what year was that? Geesh! SD just got decent again.
