Fight Metric’s Take on Rampage v. Forrest
The News - Mixed Martial Arts  |   Written by Adam Samons   |   Sunday, 06 July 2008
In the aftermath of last night’s UFC light heavyweight title fight many people online have questioned how the judging went down. Dave Meltzer from www.f4wonline.com reported the judges scored the fight as follows:

“Adalaide Byrd who scored it 48-46, gave 4 and 5 to Jackson and Griffin 1, 2 and 3 with 2 as 10-8. Nelson Hamilton had it 48-46 with 1 and 4 for Jackson, and Griffin getting 2 10-8. Roy Silbert had it 49-46 with only round 4 for Jackson.”

I personally saw the fight pretty clearly going to Forrest, but the numbers from FightMetric.com show how close the fight turned out.

You guys should know,The challenger needs to "take" the belt from the champ! In my opinion it was more of a draw.

I kept score the best I could suring the fight and I thought Rampage won 49-48. I was totally surprised when they called Forrest the winner.

Thought I was routing for Forrest so I was happy to see him win but I didn't think he was good enough to take the belt from Rampage.

A draw at best, I hope they set up a rematch and go one more time.

Forrest came the closest to winning, Rampage never came closer. Therefore Forrest wins ..

I think it was super close, but still feel Rampage hit more power shots and should have got the win.

IF rampage almost knocking Forrest out in the first is Rampage never coming close Then your an idoit. no offense...

I had it as a Draw:

Round 1: Rampage 10-9
Round 2: Griffin 10-8
Round 3: Rampage 10-9
Round 4: Rampage 10-9
Round 5: Griffin 10-9
Total: 47-47 Draw

Either way Sherdog is reporting a rematch more than likely

I like that intelligent people post on here.Bottom line, I like Forrest but it just seemed fishy to me, especially when they kept on showing that hard leg kick. They never showed the hard ass shots rampage landed. Rampage isn't homegrown like Forrest so I can understand why they would want to market Opie.

i dont think it was very close i thought forrest was in control of the fight for most of the fight this is how i scored it!

Round 1: Rampage 10-9
Round 2: Griffin 10-8
Round 3: Griffin 10- 8
Round 4: Rampage 10-9
Round 5: Griffin 10- 8

I thought it was a draw, you can argue Forrest winning slightly, but I thought Rampage had more effective shots. The fightmetric scores seemed to confirm that.
