Chaos ran rampant within La Familia during last night's episode of Smackdown, but the group regained momentum when the blue brand's most powerful couple reunited following the main event.
Edge opened the broadcast by coming to the ring and reiterating last week’s decision to call off his marriage to General Manager Vicki Guerrero. Vicki responded by placing her former fiance in a No-DQ Match against The Big Show. However, as Show prepared to finish off Edge with a Con-Chair-To during the bout, the GM emerged from her wheelchair and ordered the referee to stop the contest. Vicki threw herself on top of Edge and the two professed their love for each other. Smackdown concluded with the reconciled couple passionately kissing, so I suppose the wedding is back on.
La Familia began to disintegrate throughout the show, as Vicki, Edge, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Chavo Guerrero, and Bam Neely all found themselves at odds with their fellow stablemates at one time or another. Two matches were created from the mess, as Vicki granted Hawkins and Ryder’s request for a bout against Jess and Festus and also punished Chavo for feigning support during her crisis by booking him to face WWE Champion Edge.
In other news, it was announced that Natalya would take on Michelle McCool at the Great American Bash to determine the first Divas Champion and Umaga attacked Mr. Kennedy following his victory over Domino.
This was a decent edition of Smackdown, although I don’t understand the quick reconciliation between Edge and Vicki Guerrero. I would have pegged a reunion for the PPV at the earliest, but ending their separation after a week during a television match seems rather pointless to me.
