TNA presented a very solid and entertaining episode of Impact last night, featuring a Ladder Match, Consequences Creed challenging Petey Williams for the X Division Title, and a Knockout Street Fight.
Kurt Angle and AJ Styles headlined the show in a Ladder Match for the gold medal Styles won from the Olympian last week. The arena lights went out and Jeff Jarrett’s music played as the two battled atop the ladder. When the power returned, Styles was holding a guitar, which he used to level Angle and retrieve the medal.
Gail Kim made her final televised appearance with TNA in a Street Fight against Awesome Kong. The women fought amongst the crowd and each utilized a steel chair which Kong had thrown into the ring. Kong finally pinned Gail following an Implant Buster and was preparing to deliver another maneuver onto the chair when Kim’s storyline sister Katie entered the ring. Kong spotted Katie and teased an attack on her before ODB and Roxxi Laveaux arrived to make the save. This was a fantastic end to Kim’s TNA run and the perfect way to exit a wrestling company.
SoCal Val appeared as a guest on Karen’s Angle. Sonjay Dutt arrived and was about to kiss Val when Jay Lethal attacked him. Val attempted to separate the two, but Lethal accidentally struck her while continuing his assault on Dutt. The segment concluded with Karen screaming at Lethal and calling for help. Mike Tenay later reported that Val had sustained both a concussion and facial bruising.
In other news, Abyss once again rescued Matt Morgan from an attack by Team 3D and Kevin Nash stated in an interview with Mike Tenay that Sting would appear on next week’s Impact.
This was a great show and each match delivered in the ring (Including the Matt Morgan bout, which was simply another squash to build his character). Even most of the non-wrestling segments such as the Karen’s Angle piece were entertaining and served a purpose.
