Major Update on John Cena
Page 2
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has posted a major update on John Cena's injury.

Cena's scheduled to be examined by Dr. Lloyd Youngblood in San Antonio, Texas within the coming days. Youngblood is the same doctor who has performed neck surgery on WWE stars in the past, such as Steve Austin, Edge, Lita, Scotty 2 Hotty, Chris Benoit, Rhyno and more recently, Gregory Helms. And if the injuries sustained by the previously mentioned are any indication, Cena's going to be on the shelf for a very, very long time.

No word has come out of Cena's visit with Dr. Joseph Maroon out of the University of Pittsburgh, which was scheduled to happen this morning. One can speculate, however, that he will indeed be receiving the same fusion surgery that Gregory Helms just recently received. If he does indeed receive said surgery, he will be out of action for a devastating 12 to 14 months.

Doing the math, that will mean that not only will he miss WrestleMania 25 as far as being an in-ring compeitor goes, but he will also miss next year's SummerSlam. The surgery would schedule him for, at earliest, a return in the Fall of 2009.

Needless to say, everyone in the company is holding their breath at this point. Alot of people are looking at worst case scenarios, and hopefully, things will be revealed not to be as bad as expected. Cena was NOT at RAW last night, explaining why he didn't appear live. He's said to be beside himself with having to miss more time away from the ring. He's been prepared by WWE officials for the next steps as what to do if he does indeed need the surgery.

Love him or hate him, this is a dark day for the WWE. From watching wrestling for nearly two decades, I can tell you right now that while Cena will return to the ring, it's very, very unlikely he will ever wrestle the same way again, especially if he gets the form of fusion Austin, Lita & Helms received.

Between the Ropes is live on ESPN Radio 1080 tonight at 6pm EST, and they will have the absolute latest information on Cena's devastating injury. Stay tuned to BTR.com as well for the latest, up to the minute news updates regarding this story.

Time to bring up the new, younger talent. They cant keep "beating these dead horse old guys." Sooner or later, as is now seen, they are now going to have to be brought out to pasture. Bummer for Cena ... but I'm sure he is getting paid, none the less.
