Smackdown aired its Unforgiven go-home show last night, featuring all WWE Championship Scramble participants in action.
WWE Titleholder Triple H opened the broadcast by addressing the Smackdown Scramble Match at Unforgiven. Hunter was later attacked by fellow Scramble participants MVP, The Brian Kendrick, and U.S. Champion Shelton Benjamin before Jeff Hardy made the save. Ezekiel Jackson became involved in the brawl and was barely fazed by a Triple H chair shot. The bodyguard stared down Hunter and had to be pulled from the ring by Kendrick. The Game later defeated The Great Khali in a non-title Lumberjack Match (hopefully putting an end to this feud once and for all), but was downed by a Twist of Fate from Hardy following his victory.
The Scramble challengers competed against one another in two singles bouts, as Jeff Hardy battled The Brian Kendrick, while U.S. Champion Shelton Benjamin took on Montel Vontavious Porter in a non-title match. Both contests delivered surprise endings, as Benjamin cleanly pinned MVP and Kendrick upset Hardy with considerable assistance from Ezekiel Jackson.
General Manager Vickie Guerrero arrived sporting a confident and commanding demeanor in stark contrast to her fearful conduct of last week. Vickie came to the ring and ended an impending confrontation between The Big Show and Vladimir Kozlov before ordering both men to the back (Because nothing gets two giant powerhouses over quite like a woman one-third their size bossing them around). The GM stated that she will no longer fear The Undertaker and vowed to receive an apology from The Dead Man at Unforgiven. Seeing as the conclusion of last week’s show (Vickie shrieking as her office went dark) was not acknowledged, my only guess is that Edge will reappear at the PPV - revealing himself as the person responsible for turning out the lights - and attack ‘Taker, leading to a reconciliation between he and Vickie (Which would explain her newfound self-assurance).
Match Results: R-Truth over Bam Neely via pinfall … U.S. Champion Shelton Benjamin over MVP via pinfall … Maryse over Maria via pinfall … The Brian Kendrick over Jeff Hardy via pinfall … Super Crazy over Ryan Braddock via pinfall … Brie Bella over Victoria via pinfall (with an assist from her twin sister Nicole Bella, who scored the three-count after switching places with Brie) … WWE Champion Triple H over The Great Khali in a non-title Lumberjack Match.
