Previewing WWE Unforgiven
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Sunday, 07 September 2008
WWE presents their annual Unforgiven September PPV tonight, live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The show features the debut of a new “Scramble” match concept which will decide all three World Championships.

Five men will compete in Championship Scramble contests for the WWE, ECW, and World Titles. If you are wondering, no, I am not going through the process of explaining the rules of these matches. But I’ll do the next best thing and provide a link to the WWE.com preview of Smackdown’s Scramble, where the stipulations are discussed. How’s that?

In addition to the Scramble craziness, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho will battle in a highly anticipated “unsanctioned match” which most fans consider the real main event of the show. Of course, the question mark here is Michaels’ slightly torn left triceps and whether or not the injury will seriously affect his performance. Despite HBK’s possible limitations, I expect Shawn and Jericho to steal the show and deliver a tremendous bout.

Here is the complete lineup for tonight’s Unforgiven PPV:

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho in an “unsanctioned match”

World Champion CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Batista vs. Kane vs. JBL in a World Championship Scramble

WWE Champion Triple H vs. U.S. Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Jeff Hardy vs. MVP vs. The Brian Kendrick in a WWE Championship Scramble

ECW Champion Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Finlay vs. The Miz

Divas Champion Michelle McCool vs. Maryse

World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase vs. Cryme Tyme
